It may surprise you to hear this, but there are way more good Disney games than there are bad ones. From the 8-bit days to modern consoles, Disney games tend to be made to a pretty high standard and that is why we are going to showcase a few of the titles that you really owe it to yourself to play.
We are starting with a bang on the Sega Genesis/Sega Mega Drive. Before a blue hedgehog came along, Sega would use Mickey Mouse - Castle of Illusion to show off their 16-bit console. For good reason too, at the time this was as close to an interactive Disney cartoon as you could get. However, this game not only looks great, but it also plays great too, being one of the better platformers that the Genesis/Mega Drive has to offer. Sega was the place to go for Disney games as early in the life of the Genesis/Mega Drive we also got, Quackshot Starring Donald Duck. This is another fun platformer that also has a bit of exploration in it as well.
We will stick with ducks for a moment as it is pretty much illegal to talk about great Disney games without bringing up, Duck Tales on the NES. Many people would have this in their list of best NES games, let alone Disney ones. It has a great soundtrack; you can pick any level you want and the gameplay is nice and tight. We also recommend that you check out the sequel Duck Tales 2 which is also a great game.
Ok, so now we are going back to 16-bits to tell you about an epic series of games for the Super Nintendo. Just like Duck Tales, these were made by Capcom! Disneys Magical Quest is a fantastic little platformer starring Mickey Mouse, who can learn new abilities as he finds costumes. The sequel, Disneys Magical Quest 2 offers more of the same, but allows you to also play as Minnie Mouse. Many people have heard of and played the first two games, but Japan got a third in, Disney's Magical Quest 3 starring Mickey & Donald which allows you to also play as Donald Duck! It would eventually be released in the West on the GBA.
There is more to Disney games than 2D platformers! We also have Disneys Chicken Little which is a very underrated and fun 3D action and adventure game. Sticking with 3D games, Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers is a whole lot of fun and a great example of a fun and early Disney 3D platformer. If you want some speed then check out Mickey's Speedway USA which is an excellent kart racing game in the same style as Mario Kart. We even have Disney puzzle games such as Magical Tetris Challenge and Goof Troop.
We have so many amazing Disney games that you may be going crazy like Donald or getting really angry like Woody did at Buzz! Well do not worry as the games we have suggested here are a great place to start. No matter what Disney franchises or characters you like, we will have the perfect Disney game for you right here.
