I had heard a lot of good things about Wings Of Roldea, but the game was not in English so I decided it was probably not best to play an erotic action RPG that I could not understand. Well, there is a solid English translation available now so I thought that I would check it out and see what this was all about.

You Are Alma

The story of the game is a fantasy-based story that I felt was pretty decent. I am not entirely sure what the goal was, but controlling Alma and having her fight foes and get banged in every way you could possibly imagine was more than enough to keep me wanting to play the game and see what the heck happened next.

So, I will say that if you want a deep and easy to get into story then Wings Of Roldea is probably not going to grab you in that way. This is a game that is really all about sex and the story feels like it was then added to it after if you know what I mean.

An Interesting Style

The main portion of the game is played in your typical top down RPG style that you would expect from an erotic RPG. What I thought was really cool was that instead of the game showing you a CG of erotic action. This takes place on the same screen as the top down min portion of the game. For example, if you are in a battle with a couple of creatures that are having their way for you, on the side of the screen will be a very graphic internal image of what is going on, and also there maybe a couple of others around the screen too. It is a very interesting style of presentation and one I am surprised I have not seen more of.

Where Do I Go?

I like the top down style of Wings Of Roldea. I liked the lewd content not taking you away from the main screen. In short, the game has a lot of things I do like about it, but at the end of the day this is an RPG, but as an RPG I found that the game does have a few problems that I had a hard time getting over. It does somethings to help the player such as having a red arrow over things that you can interact with.

On the flip side of this, I would class this as a “where the hell am I supposed to go kind of game”. It is not very good at letting you know what you are supposed to do and where you are supposed to go.

For me, this is a bit of a turn-off, especially when I have so many other lewd games to play. It is certainly the kind of game where you will want to have a walkthrough if you want to get all the way through it.

I will say that there are many things in Wings Of Roldea that I like. The presentation is great and while if I am honest it is a tad hardcore for my personal taste. I do think that this style may be something we see more of in lewd games in the future. The actual RPG portion of the game is what I have an issue with. It is a very basic RPG and that is ok, but the lack of direction I am sure will make people lose interest unless they have a guide.
