That's the main reason why there are plenty of games that are completely inspired by old games. And that's also the reason why so many indie games tend to appeal to the nostalgic feeling these old games brought. Now, today we are talking about a game that works through plenty of different levels of nostalgia. All of this while upgrading it to the modern gaming world. This game is Shatter Remastered Deluxe, the optimized version of the critically acclaimed game that reinvented the genre from developer and publisher PikPok, so what is this game all about?

About the game

Make your way through 71 levels of intense action that present unique challenges as you progress. As you travel through 10 different worlds, you'll line up precision shots in an attempt to win crazy boss battles, requiring you to collect shards and unleash the powerful Shard Storm. Master mind-bending physics to manipulate and bounce balls into increasingly complex geometric structures, destroying bricks with intuitive controls tuned for today's new platforms.

You'll need to make use of the suck and blow mechanics to control the trajectory of each ball you're shooting. Of course, there are some of the classic power-ups and upgrades you are used to seeing in this game. Such as damage enhancers, and the unstoppable that will make your ball, well, unstoppable.

We'll keep the excitement going with 4 unique game modes: Story, Endless, Boss Rush, and Time Attack. We will be able to challenge our friends with a local co-op mode in Endless Co-op Multiplayer and Time Attack Co-op Multiplayer or take on the world leaderboard to claim our place in Shatter history.

Bright and exciting

Shatter Remastered Deluxe is an incredibly colorful game, it makes it all feel like it's jumping out of the screen. In a way, it kinda reminds us of games like Geometry Wars, but with some extra features that make this game stand out. The music is very nice too, and the art style really fits with the gameplay. of course, the gameplay is more akin to the so-called bullet hell genre. Even though the core mechanics of the game are heavily based on brick breakers, that's where it draws its nostalgia powers from.

Shatter Remastered Deluxe is a pretty fun game, especially if you're looking for something that will test your reflexes. It's also great to see a game that can still bring back those memories of the old-school brick-breakers and then improve it with the new tech available. Progress through richly detailed sci-fi-inspired stages with enhanced visual effects running at native 4K and 120 fps, with a killer soundtrack too.
