As soon as I heard that GYEE was being described, or self-described by the people making the game as the “first all gay RPG” I knew that this was something I had to check out. This is a lewd gay Gacha style RPG and it was originally designed with mobile devices in mind. Hey, I am right there with you, that got my spidey sense tingling right away too, but at the end of the day, this is a free to play game and I was able to have some fun with it without putting my hand into my pocket and spending some real money to progress.

How Did I Get Here

Story wise, I have to be honest and say that GYEE was quite hard to follow as far as the overall plot goes. We play as a dude that was hanging out a boardgame café, a magical dice roll later and we find ourselves in the fantasy world of Luxium. We can bond with other GYEE’s (what gay people are called in this world) and this can lead to great power, but there is a big evil that wants to stop this from happening. While the main story was hard to follow, I did like the interactions with the other characters. There is a lot of witty humor here and there were a few characters that I did grow to like quite a lot.

Please, Stop Talking

While the writing in GYEE is quite witty and I did feel like I got to know some of the characters very well. This is a game that likes to talk a great deal, I say this because it seems like some of the dialogue sections go on forever. I get that the developer has this big epic idea for a world and story, but sometimes less is more. I will be honest and say that I did skip some of the dialogue as there were parts that felt like they went on way too long. I like getting to know the characters on a personal level, but there is a limit and sometimes this game goes way over that limit!

A” Full” RPG Experience

You know, I would happily pay full price for a game like GYEE. To me, this is a fantastic gay RPG and it has some fun systems where you need to gather resources, add new GYEE characters to your ranks, get stronger, and so on. The combat system is fun, and challenging and keeps you on your toes. It has everything that I want in a fun lewd RPG. However, this is a free-to-play Gacha RPG and you know what comes with that. The random nature of the stuff you get, the slow pace at which things progress, and the way the game always has its hand out for money is sure to turn some people off. I put a few hours into the game and when I started to feel like my progress was coming to a very slow progressing unless I spent money, I knew that it was time for me to walk away.

The Eye Candy We All Want

The thing with GYEE is that while the Gacha like mechanics did ultimately end up turning me off, the amazing visuals probably kept me playing longer than I normally would with a free to play Gacha style RPG. This game is all about hunky hard bodied dudes that are very easy on the eyes. I cannot off the top of my head think of another gay themed game that has as many hot dudes as this one does. Based on eye candy alone, this is worth checking out at the very least. However, I do have to say that as well as the rock hard abs and tight shorts, the fantasy world that has been created here is really cool and I was interested in seeing as much of it as I could.

It is so easy to focus on the negative aspects of the Gacha mechanics that GYEE has and I will be honest, they are certainly there. However, at the end of the day, I played this on and off for the better part of a week without spending a penny and I had a lot of fun. When I got to the point that the fun was being slowed down, I walked away. If you do that, you really cannot complain as at the end of the day, you did not spend anything to have this fun experience. I would love to see the developer take what they have done here though and make a full non Gacha gay RPG!

Pros:

  • There are many hard bodied hunky dudes in the game
  • The writing can be witty and funny
  • There are some legit likable characters in this game
  • The RPG mechanics are fun and deeper than you would expect

Cons:

  • You can only get so far before you have to spend money to progress
  • The story is interesting, but some of the dialogue sections go on way, way too long!
