Ever dreamed of leaving the corporate grind behind and opening your own brewpub? Brewpub Simulator lets you do just that, without any of the real-world risks. This management simulation game tasks you with turning a rundown old brewery into a bustling hotspot, all while learning the ins and outs of crafting and serving delicious brews. After spending countless hours behind the bar, I’m ready to share my thoughts on this frothy gaming experience.

The core gameplay loop revolves around keeping your customers happy and your kegs full as you balance time between serving drinks, making repairs, upgrading furniture, and of course – brewing beer! It immediately gave me flashbacks to playing Diner Dash back in the day (which is always a great thing.)

Brewpub Simulator drops you directly behind the bar of your very own brewpub that you’ve mysteriously inherited. While the place has seen better days, you’re excited to clean it up, decorate, and make it your own.

Brewing is easily my favorite part of the game. You start with just a few basic recipes, but can expand your repertoire by buying ingredients and experimenting. Getting the brewing process right takes practice – I definitely had some failed batches at first. But once you dial in a recipe, it’s extremely satisfying to put your own beer on tap. This part feels reminiscent of titles like Food Truck Simulator, where you manage multiple recipes and inventory.

Interior Decorator

Making the pub your own is also engaging. There are tons of furniture, wall decorations, flooring, and other items to unlock. I enjoyed giving my brewpub a cozy, rustic vibe. My only gripe is that there’s no way to expand or change the physical building itself. After decking out the starting pub, there wasn’t much room left for new items. It would be great to add extensions in a future update.

Games Galore

Besides drinking and brewing, customers will also enjoy playing the arcade machine or games like darts and pool that come with the pub. There are even some brewing-related mini-games you can play! I do wish there was an option for multiplayer/co-op, as these games seem perfect to play with friends. But they provide a nice change of pace from the management aspects when you need a break.

While Brewpub Simulator isn’t revolutionary in the business sim genre, it’s a chill, engaging game for anyone who enjoys laid-back management games like House Flipper. Clocking in at around 15 hours for my first playthrough, it’s a great value. Just don’t go in expecting an incredibly deep simulation.

It's also worth mentioning that the radio in this game is something truly revolutionary for a simulation game. I don't want to spoil anything, but I'll tell you this: the radio broadcast absolutely needs an internet connection!
