Secrets of the Wasteland

Secrets of the Wasteland is a lewd adventure RPG that has been in the works for quite some time, and it has even undergone a name change too! I was scrolling through, looking for a new lewd game to play, and it caught my attention. As I was reading the synopsis, I was getting a major sense of deja vu as I did remember checking this out when it first released, and it being an ambitious game, but one that had many issues. While not perfect and far from complete, I had some fun with this, and I hope that the dev continues working on it.

Sand, Babes and Boobs!

The setting of Secrets of the Wasteland is something that I think is very cool. It has a post-apocalyptic, desert wasteland type thing going on. If you are into stuff like Dune and Mad Max, I am sure you will get a kick out of the setting here. The whole thing of a wanderer in the desert trying to remember their past, but also trying to figure out their future is a storyline that has been done before, but it is always something that I think is cool and the idea here from what I experienced is that we will get to decide what kind of person we will become.

Surviving The Wasteland

This is an open world full 3D game and it is one that is very, very impressive. When this was first released, it was called River’s End, and it was a bit of a mess on a technical level, but you could see that there was something here. You need to explore this wasteland, take on various quests, drive cars, shoot enemies, and of course, have hot sex. If you have played any kind of 3D action game like Just Cause 3 or Sleeping Dogs, to name a couple, it has a similar kind of style to that. Although this game goes above and beyond in some regards, for example, you do not just pick up ammo. You need to load it into your clip and then put the clip into the gun. Hey, I am kind of weird, and I think that this is pretty awesome. I like what is here, I just wish that there was more of it.

Looking Good For A Desert Hell Hole

I am a huge fan of the presentation of Secrets of the Wasteland. To be fair, even when this was called River’s End, the presentation was pretty solid. The characters have a cool, realistic, but post-apocalyptic look to them, and I love the wasteland setting that they have here. The game has a very high end look to it (which we will have to discuss in a few seconds), and the animation quality is solid, and I was very happy with the few sex scenes that I came across. Also, the chicks in this wasteland tend to dress in very revealing clothing, which is always something that I am a huge fan of.

Working Under The Hood

Ok, I have to address the post apocalyptic sand covered elephant in the room when it comes to Secrets of the Wasteland, and that is the fact that this game runs like trash unless you do some work. The framerate of the game makes shooting near impossible, it runs super jerky, and the moment there are more than a couple of moving things on the screen, it slows to a crawl. Thankfully, there is a fix for this. You need to make sure that you have a shortcut to the .exe, and then you need to add -DX11 to the end of the target line. If you want to play this game, you simply must do this, I would go as far as to say that it is unplayable if you do not.

Pros:

• I loved the desert wasteland setting
• The character models look great
• The challenging gameplay was fun and way more in-depth than I expected
• This is already good, but it could become great!

Cons:

• Without making that fix, this is borderline unplayable
• The game is good, but it really needs more content
