The Sim games are always a hit, and it’s because they let the player explore a new way to live, but without consequences like losing all your money if you don’t do it properly. It’s a win-win situation!

These games have an established formula: They are very realistic games done by people who know how the job you are simulating works. The graphics are excellent, and the mechanics are good. The problem with these games is that they are more like a one-time experience; after a while, they get boring, and you can do nothing to avoid that feeling. Luckily, My Garage offers a bit more than that.

Where’s My Low-Poly Car?

My Garage isn’t the most pleasant thing to play when it comes to graphics. It’s not ugly, but it doesn’t look realistic, which is the real aim of the game. Things like the 3D model of the cars you fix or the water that comes out of the garden hose you use to clean the dirty car make you get a bit out of the experience. It’s surely a big flaw, as Simulation games harshly depend on looking realistic to set an ambience you can get into.

In this aspect, games like Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 or CMSR get the upper hand. In this game, the cars look very ugly even when you fix it.

The roads don’t help the game either; they look empty and plain, like a sketch of something very far from being done. There are no variations, and the game looks more like an old or retro game with beautiful shaders.

On the bright side, the tools and car pieces by themselves look very realistic. These models were taken from people who did and uploaded them for free, but they fit greatly into the game. Nonetheless, some models get inside others when you are moving things around, which again breaks the ambience of the game.

I’m a Real Mechanic!

The gameplay of My Garage is pretty good; it isn’t bugged, and overall, the game is not hard to play. The problem arises when it comes to the rhythm of the game. My Garage is very slow and it’s not dynamic at all. Fixing a car isn’t a boring task in real life, so this depiction of fixing a car isn’t accurate either.

The driving mechanics are pretty simple; driving is nice and fun, so there’s no problems with that.

This game has a good side; fixing cars give you money, which you can invest either on new tools to help you with your tasks, or junky cars and pieces to build cars from scratch. You can also fix cars you find on the junkyard if you think they are worth fixing, which will give you even more money as you can sell these cars. There’s a lot of cars you can choose from, which makes the game more enjoyable and less repetitive. It isn’t as exact as Car Mechanic Simulator, but this is a good thing, as it’s more of a casual game where you can hit the ground running insead of having to learn all the mechanics.
