This is a sequel to a game I really like, actually. Lovecraft Locker: Tentacle Hell is technically the fourth game in the series now that I think about it. Look, this is weird and kooky stuff that is full of slimy tentacles having their way with cute girls. I will admit, tentacle games are not usually my cup of tea, but I have had so much fun with this series over the years, and I am surprised that this one kind of flew past me. However, I am here now, and I have had a pretty good time messing around with this latest instalment in the series.
Is The Fourth Time The Charm?
In case you were not aware, what we have here with Lovecraft Locker: Tentacle Hell is an official sequel to the game, Lovecraft Locker: Tentacle Lust, a game which I had a fun time with. That game was an unofficial sequel, or at the very least, it was inspired by the games, Tentacle Locker and its sequel, Tentacle Locker 2. At the end of the day, if you liked any of the three previous games, I would say that the chances you will have a fun time here with this instalment are pretty high. However, I will also say that the version I am talking about here today must be a pretty early in development one, as it is lacking in content.
The Five Regions Of Hell
Out of the four games (official and unofficial) that make up this series, Lovecraft Locker: Tentacle Hell has the best premise when it comes to the story. Lilith is the Goddess of Hell, and we are trying to infiltrate the five stages of hell by planting tentacle monsters in the lockers of the Hell Institute, where hellish beings go about their business. Ok, the story does not get any more in-depth than that if I am telling the truth. However, as a premise, I actually think that this is very cool, and it would be awesome to see this fleshed out more, as I truly do think they have a great idea here. Granted, you could argue that focusing on hell is taking away from the Lovecraftian thing, but the series never went in all that deep with that in Lovecraft Locker: Tentacle Lust anyway.
Locker Grabber
The previous game was pretty simple, but Lovecraft Locker: Tentacle Hell is a little on the strange side, strange even for a game with a wacky premise like this. The idea is the same: you put tentacle monsters in the lockers, they grab the hot chicks, bang them in the lockers, and you move on. However, there is also the idea that you take over the five regions of hell, and you have different tentacle monsters to use. The different monsters were in the previous game, but that game actually had structure. Here… it tells you nothing!!! There is no guidance on what to do, what does what, or how to progress. You just click on the lockers, wait for something to happen, and that is it! This feels like a very, very early build of the game, almost like it was not supposed to be released to the public.
Level One Of Robot Hell!!!!
A fun little Futurama reference for you there, by the way, why has the awesome Futurama: The Game for PlayStation 2 never been remastered! Anyway, Lovecraft Locker: Tentacle Hell is a very fun-looking game, the Hell Institute setting is fun, the hellish chicks walking around are cute, and if you are into tentacle porn, you will love the over-the-top sex scenes of these chicks being ravaged by tentacles that the game has to offer. I like the quirky style of it all, and the fact that tentacles are usually a massive turn off for me, tells you that this must be pretty good. I think the way the game is more quirky than it is gross and slimy is what makes it work for me. Of course, if you do like your tentacle games to be more slimy and realistic, this may not click for you the same way that it did for me.
I like all of the elements of this game, except the fact that it is just not fun to play! Lovecraft Locker: Tentacle Hell could be even better than the previous game, but the gameplay in the build I played was very lacking. It tells you nothing regarding how you play, and sometimes you need to use the keyboard, other times you need to use the mouse, but there is never any kind of indication. This is one game that needs way more time in the oven before it gets an update. My score may seem low, but that is because I had such high hopes for this, and I am praying that the next update fixes all my issues.
Pros:
- They really have something with the premise of the story here
- I liked the five regions of hell setting
- The game is very quirky and kind of fun to look at
- The potential for this to be great is certainly there
Cons:
- The version I played was very, very unfinished in every regard
- There is no word on when any kind of update is expected!
