Wouldn't you like to run your very own casino? Of course, you would! The industry is lucrative, and the management detail is a constant challenge. Now you can take all that under your vise with Grand Casino Tycoon! Time revels in the excitement of the casino floor and gets stuck into all the everyday events of a rising cash cow.
There's an element of nostalgia about Grand Casino Tycoon, even before getting stuck into the gameplay. Simulators were a big thing back in the days. Arguably they still are today, albeit taken on a more contemporary structure with advancing game design. This game seems to toss you right back into the days of cheap UI's, sleazy characters, and hyper-detailed mechanics. Is Grand Casino Tycoon a blast from the past?
Take the Floor, Boss
Anybody that saw the teaser would already have had a good laugh at Grand Casino Tycoon. Already we could see that this is a game that's not taking itself too seriously - but strangely delivering an immersive gameplay experience. The bossman that's purchased some buildings sets the tone for the game - you are milk all your customers of their cash!
How do you accomplish this, you ask? With some engaging simulation mechanics, of course! We weren't wrong in thinking that the nostalgia of simulators old is rife in Grand Casino Tycoon. You will use your initial cash to build an aesthetically pleasing casino floor with machines and amenities to keep your new customers happy. Naturally, your boss is looking over your shoulder the entire time, micromanaging everything you do.
It's really the dialogue that makes Grand Casino Tycoon so entertaining and frustrating at the same time. It's not the most straightforward task to keep your customers happy - they will be losing money after all! The boss will take every opportunity to criticize your management actions while you build and manipulate. Customers will either rejoice or complain, pending on how they adapt to your casino.
Despite the intricate detail - Grand Casino Tycoon is incredibly immersive. The urgency of the game is complemented by the vast moving visuals of gamblers. The interface also is always giving you tasks to do. It's been a while since a simulator captivated players so much - and the humor involved in the game makes it incredibly accessible. A worthwhile experience for any sim fans!
A Satisfying, Sleazy Simulation
Grand Casino Tycoon is surprisingly good. Elements of the game get frustrating with the overzealous detail and layered dialogue. But the game wins in how seamless it offers its interface. Skill trees, micromanaging, organization, and building all will keep players busy - and very entertained. You'll feel satisfied as you make millions for your boss man.
Were you a fan of Roller Coaster Tycoon at any point in your life? Grand Casino Tycoon is the perfect homage to the simulation genre. It may get a bit too much for those wanting a more zen-like building experience - the gameplay is intense. But if you are up for the challenge against the comical businessman stereotypes - this is your guy.
Pros:
- Immersive gameplay with a wide range of management options
- Casino characters are humorous
- A great sense of satisfaction when completing tasks
Cons:
- The user interface can feel a little overwhelming at times
- The dialogue can get cluttered and annoy players
