GOREGASM

As I write this, GOREGASM has only been out for just a few weeks, so what we are talking about here today is a pretty early release. However, this clicked with me right from the start, and the game's addictive qualities are already well and truly in place. I can see this one becoming a big deal, and granted, it is a bit on the grindy side, but if you ask me, that is by design, as this is the kind of game where you keep saying to yourself, “just one more run,” and then before you know it, another hour has passed!

Slay Or Be Slayed

From what I experienced during my time with GOREGASM, there is not a ton of story here, but the basics are certainly something that I think is very cool. The game takes place in a hellacious world, full of demons and monsters. You enter a strange temple, and there you encounter all of these monsters and must fight your way out in order to survive. It is a very cool premise, and I think the way that it is not giving you a ton of information does make it seem like a game that could have come out in the 90s.

A Painkiller Of A Good Time

What makes GOREGASM so much fun to play is the core gameplay. This is best described as a first person shooter. If you remember the classic Painkiller, that is a good comparison, well, Painkiller mixed with the recent Vampire Survivors. You enter an area and just go to town, mowing down all of the enemies that get in your way. Even though this is a pretty early build of the game. It all works very well, and I thought that the controls were nice and tight and easy to get to grips with. The XXX content is actually tied to the gameplay, which is fun, but I do wish you could skip the scene as it lasts a little too long, and you do see it over and over again.

Taking You To The Next Level

Some people will probably find that GOREGASM is a bit of a grinding game, and I have to be honest, I can see why. However, it is the grinding that made the game so addictive for me. You have two skill trees: one is your passive skill tree that gives you boosts and buffs, and the other is your abilities, moves, and so on, which give you new offensive abilities. Even though the version of the game I played is still an early build, I felt that the progression was already pretty well implemented, and I am excited to see what other abilities they have planned for the game. Sure, you could argue that you are doing the same thing over and over again, but to be fair, that is the case with the other two games I namedropped just before, Painkiller and Vampire Survivors!

Hell Is Hot!

If you love horror and XXX being smashed together, I am sure that you will get a massive kick out of GOREGASM as far as the visuals go. The game has a very dark and moody, gothic horror vibe about it all, we are talking fire and brimstone here! In addition to this, the game has some fun monster designs, granted, there are only a couple here as I write this, but they look awesome, and honestly, I would not say that these would be out of place in one of the Doom video games. I did touch on the XXX content before, but what is here is good; it is just the game forces you to see it over and over again.

Pros:

• The hell and horror setting of the game is cool
• I thought the FPS action was balls to the wall
• The progression system is very addictive
• I am super excited to see what the future of this game brings

Cons:

• I liked the progression, but some may find it a bit grindy
• The game needs more XXX content or to allow you to skip it
