Diablo II Resurrected

Finally! It’s been over 20 years since the original release of this cult classic, now, Diablo II: Resurrected is here to ignite the flames of nostalgia in players all over the world. This game is not a regular remake or remaster. Instead, it has the wheel feeling exactly how it felt 20 years ago. The only noticeable change is in the modernization of the graphics, physics and minor advancements to the UI elements.

True to the Original

With virtually every modern game abandoning the pixel art style, your mind will also update the graphics for older games in your head.

Smooth and Modern Graphics

To travel back to your childhood memories with graphics and VFX this vivid is a dream we wish could be fulfilled for all our favorite video games. This remaster is designed to be as close to the original as possible. This means that your character abilities, models and mannerisms are identical, albeit with smoother animations. The choppy movements are gone from the game, but that doesn’t mean things are unrecognizable. The environments are exactly alike to the original. Even dead trees appear in the exact same spot with the same imprint. You’ll quickly feel yourself more immersed than ever as you explore the world of Diablo II: Resurrected.

A New Generation

Blizzard’s approach to remakes is one that other studios should follow. If you want to enter a time machine, you can easily toggle a switch to make the game become the old version of Diablo II. Be warned though, it’s not going to be pretty. Dated pixel art is nothing compared to modern day pixel art where the design language is much clearer with better physics and a nicer color palette. Games like Dead cells and Owl Boy provide proof of this. Games like Divinity Original Sin 2 will provide some competition, but Diablo’s rich lore is sure to keep it feeling interesting in your long journey.

Even with its 1:1 replication of the old game, Diablo II: Resurrected provides some minor changes to the feel of the game as quality of life updates. These updates definitely improve certain aspects of the game. For one, we have much snappier game physics and shorter loading times. The fast travel mechanics have also been improved for this version. Certain Easter eggs are still placed around its world for eagle eyed fans to theorize and reminisce about.
