The thing with Car Repair is that this is also listed as Cheap Car Repair, and I cannot seem to get a straight answer in regards to what the official name for this game is! Anyway, what I can tell you is that this is a fun simulator game that has some very quirky vibes about it, and I found myself having a blast with it. I have played many games where you run a garage, but I can hand on heart say that none of them are like this! This is one of the most unique garage sim games I have ever had the pleasure to play.

Welcome To Nowhere!

The setting of Bumfuck Nowhere is hilarious and sets the tone for the wacky sense of humor that Car Repair has. However, the game also takes place in the 1990s… for absolutely no reason as far as I can tell. The basics are that we want to make as much money as we can, but we are broke, the people we are working for are broke, and we have to get very creative with how we can maximize each job that we take on. You do get to chat with the strange folk that live in this town and the writing here is so over the top, it is hilarious.

Getting Your Hands Dirty

What makes Car Repair, or the better name of Cheap Car Repair, which is way more fitting, so unique is the way you go about fixing up people's cars. The people here do not have much money, and you do not have much money to make sure they are getting the best service. They need a new steering wheel? Hey, that old valve will be just as good. What is that? They need a fan belt, but you do not have one? An old pair of pantyhose may be enough to get them out of your shop. You basically need to half-ass the repair enough that they can get the car out of the garage and down the road, and then things are their problem. It is honestly hilarious the way you save money by doing stuff like just painting over rust, with the cheapest paint around, of course.

Taking It For A Spin

While the repairing of the weirdo inhabitants of Bumfuck Nowhere is going to take up a lot of your time in Car Repair. This game is actually pretty packed with stuff to do and to keep you busy. You can drive the cars, you can chat to the people and take on various side missions, and it is one of those games where it always feels like there is something for you to do. I liked how the game always had something for me to do, and it kept me busy. Now, I will be honest and say that the game is not optimized the best, as I did have a couple of crashes and pretty intense framerate drops, but the game is still being tweaked as I write this, so I could see this being fixed.

Nowhere In Deed!

The overall presentation of Car Repair is pretty fun. The first scene I saw was a goat… I think it was a goat, freaking out on the roof of a car, and that set the tone for the wacky and over-the-top nature of this game. It kind of has a PlayStation 2 or even PlayStation 3 look about it, and that is not meant as a form of disrespect; it just has that vibe to it. The UI is easy to figure out, and while I did have a few technical hiccups with the crashes and the framerate issues. I never had any pop-in or trouble with the visuals in any kind of way. I do like the 90s setting as I grew up then, but I wish it did have a little more pop culture references in the game.

• I got a kick out of the Bumfuck Nowhere setting
• The game has some super fun and wacky vibes
• Repairing the cars by any means necessary is funny
• There is more to do than just repair cars

• I did have a few technical issues while playing the game
• Those who want a more serious mechanic sim may not click with this
