Superfuse

Superfuse is an early access game that has gotten me really pumped up! This is a game that I am excited to plow through on my own, but also with my buddies as well. What we have here is an action RPG that is all about hack and slash action. The whole style of the game has a comic book come to life thing going on and it is the kind of game that I am sure for those that enjoy it, will become super addictive. I think we have one of the sleeper hits of 2023 on our hands here folks

Gods, Aliens, And More

The whole premise of Superfuse is kind of hard for me to talk about right now as the game is not yet fully complete. However, I am loving what I have seen as I write this. Basically, we have this big conspiracy that seems like it is all just about aliens and monsters, but then there are gods at play and you are thrust into the middle of it all as you try to figure out what is really going on. It is the kind of thing that on paper sounds really confusing and makes little sense, but when you are in the thick of it, you will feel invested in what is going down!

Your Hero, Your Way

I feel that games like Diablo or even something like Path of Exile are the best comparison for what we have here with Superfuse. You have to choose your character class, but what is so cool about Superfuse is that the fuse in the title is not just a gimmick! This is a game where you have to get very creative with the character you are making. There is a decent skill tree in the game with a lot of choices at your disposal. You have to play around and figure out which things will suit your play style best. Then as you are playing the game, you can get your hand on all kinds of armor and boosters to help enhance your session.

A Solo Hero Or Part Of A Team

I feel that with other games of this style, you are either playing them on your own or with your friends, and games are designed to be played solo or as part of a team. Superfuse is a game that I feel it can be just as much fun to play on your own as it is with your friends. This is a hack and slash action RPG that just throws horde after horde of enemies your way. It is so addictive to get new gear after a battle and while playing on your own is great, you can also work as part of a team with your friends as you try and progress through the game. It is very exciting stuff and the kind of game where you will just want “one more round” even though you have already been playing for three hours and it is 2 in the morning!

From Page To Monitor!

I am really liking the whole vibe and style that Superfuse has going on! This game is designed with looking like a comic book in mind and that is something I feel they have really nailed here. It certainly has a comic book style to it and I think that the creature designs of the enemies you will be slaying in their hundreds are really cool. The whole game has this sci-fi style to it which I like, all be it with a bit of fantasy sprinkled on top.

If you are a gamer that enjoys hack and slash action RPGs, I have no doubt that Superfuse is going to be a game you have an awesome time with. I know that some people may be put off by the whole early access thing, but I think there is a lot of awesome stuff here and the way you have to fuse your character together from all these awesome powers is very exciting, it is like you are creating your own dream superhero.

Pros:

  • For an early access game, it has a lot of content
  • It has one of the most fun character builders I have seen in a while
  • I love the whole comic book style of the game
  • The hack and slash gameplay is a ton of fun

Cons:

  • The game as I write this is in pretty “early” early access
  • It can get pretty hectic on screen and be hard to know where your character is on occasion

Game Reviews

A comic book-inspired game that tailors itself to your skill level, Superfuse is a highly addictive experience that is as entertaining as it is rewarding in the long run. With a heavy focus on abilities and player customization over pre-defined classes, Superfuse lets players become the heroes they've always wanted to be.

Though the minimalistic presentation is aided by the cel-shaded visual style, Superfuse still manages to be a chaotic experience in the best way possible. There's a certain order to the whole madness of this title's gameplay, and once it clicks with you, it becomes near-impossible to stop playing.

Hack and Bash

Just one look at Superfuse's gameplay lets you know almost everything there's to know about how the game's played. If I had to compare it to any other title, I'd say Superfuse plays like a more action-oriented Path of Exile, although it's easy to see the similarities with some of the core gameplay mechanics of Diablo here and there.

However, these similarities are only skin deep: there's an entirely different metagame in Superfuse that is unlike most hack-and-slash RPGs we've seen so far, and that has to do with the game's approach to classes and abilities.

Custom Heroes

While Superfuse does let you pick from two different classes, these only dictate the core pool of abilities your hero can pick from. Once you've built the basis for what your character is to become, the possibilities are almost endless in the type of character you can play as.

Besides your skills, each character can also be further improved by using different gear and loot you'll find in each mission. That's when the game begins resembling Path of Exile a bit more, as you take down hordes of enemies to eventually find that perfect piece of gear that goes along nicely with the rest of your abilities.

Comics and Gore

If there's one area that still doesn't quite convince me about Superfuse, that'd have to be the game's visuals. All the powers look quite good in action, letting the player feel all the power behind their hand-picked abilities; however, the presentation could use a bit more polish. As it is, the game resembles what Borderlands would have looked like if it had been released for the Nintendo DS.

That said, the character and environmental design fit the game's plot quite well. Speaking of which, the game's story can be quite engaging, even if it's certainly not the main focus of the whole package. Still, it has that comic book edge that the whole game aims for – and it's especially great when played online with friends.

Superfuse is an entertaining hack-and-slash RPG with solid character customization that will please most fans of the genre, even if the visuals are a bit of a letdown.

Pros

  • Robust character customization lets you create any kind of hero
  • Great, unintrusive UI
  • Engaging plot

Cons

  • The visuals lack some polish
  • Lots of grinding and repetitive gameplay, especially when playing offline.
