But what we care about the most here is video games, and hundreds of games have been developed with the help of a little crowdfunding on Kickstarter. And we are here to talk about Spirit of the Island, a new game funded through Kickstarter, developed by 1M Bits Horde, and published by META Publishing. So, what's this cute little game all about? Well, let's talk about it.

About the game

Spirit of the Island is a colorful simulation RPG game, set on a tropical island, where you get to explore your surroundings, meet the locals, work on the fields and town, and embark on a mission to restore the island to make it a prosperous tourist destination once again.

This island used to be really popular among the tourists, but somewhere along the way with the passing of years, things changed. Work on the fields, harvest veggies, get the farms back to their glory and build the town to be most comfortable for the tourism and life there. Upgrade the buildings and create attractions.

Explore the island to find the best locations for the attractions and gather resources but beware, for there are some dangers on this island. You have to be ready to endure a fight, as some animes threaten your paradise island. Ancient creatures, wild animals, and even evil pirates will try and stop you from reaching your goal.

Relaxing and colorful

The developers claim that this game is inspired by titles like Stardew Valley, and even though the visuals are completely different we can clearly see how the inspiration impacted the game. We also have to mention the similarities with other cute relaxing games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, where you also have to turn an island into a paradise.

The main difference is that there are enemies and fights in this game, whereas in Animal Crossing it is a completely peaceful experience. One thing’s for sure when it comes to Spirit of the Island, and that is that this relaxing game is really cute and colorful.

Spirit of the Island is a relaxing experience for the most part, and you can clearly see the inspiration from Stardew Valley in the game. Developing your island is a tiring task, and there’s also an interesting story element to discover, as you have to unfold the secrets of your past as you rescue this island.

However, the fights are a bit too constant and it’s a little confusing with all the focus on the relaxing this game has otherwise. And the fighting mechanics are undeveloped and very basic, so that adds to the issue. Sure, there are weapons and items you can use for fighting, but it feels as if the game doesn’t have a clear idea of what it wants to be, and that can be annoying.
