Slice of Venture 3: Chased Lives

I find it kind of weird how Slice of Venture 3: Chased Lives tells you so little about the plot. This is a game that almost demands you know what happened in the last one before you play it. To be fair, once you start the game, it does fill you in on the story. However, I can see some people going to the homepage of this and just being completely turned off by the lack of any communication from the developer about what the game is, outside of it just being a sequel!

Adding Some Supernatural Spice

The last game in the series was very much a family affair. However, Slice of Venture 3: Chased Lives may feature the same characters from the previous game, and building relationships and moving things forward is still a huge part of the story here in this latest game. However, there is now a succubus thrown into the mix that changes things up considerably and it was a change that to me was very welcomed. You are basically stuck in this hell world and looking for a way out.

Straight RPG Playing!

There was a management aspect in the last game and that from what I have experienced so far appears to be gone in Slice of Venture 3: Chased Lives. This is much more of a traditional RPG and it is a pretty damn good one so far. As I write this, there is not a ton of content in the game just yet, but what is here I am enjoying. You have to explore the land, talk to characters, get new equipment and of course, try and complete any quests that come your way.

Battling Up

One of the things that I think they have really nailed even in this early stage is the battle and weapon system. You can learn these weapon skills which make combat way more rewarding and I think it adds some real RPG style meat to the gameplay. I think that they need to add more enemies though as leveling up your weapon skills can be more awkward than it should be, but it is still a gameplay feature I am really liking so far.

The Dark World!

Visually, Slice of Venture 3: Chased Lives is a great looking game. The shift in tone does change things a bit as things are now darker and moodier, but it still has that same kind of style as the previous game. The character sprites are all very well done and the portraits do a wonderful job of giving the characters more personality. I will admit that I have only managed to come across a couple of lewd scenes so far, but the ones I have seen are done very well. If the last game is anything to go by, we can expect some really kinky and XXX stuff here.

Pros:

• I liked the supernatural setting of the story
• It is a good progression from the last game
• I liked how this was more of a full RPG than the last game
• The battle and weapon system are something that I like

Cons:

• There is not a ton of content in the game as I write this
• The game almost demands that you have played the previous game
