Rubber Bandits

Rubber Bandits is a hilarious and fun game where you are a robber trying to steal some loot without getting caught. The hitch? There are 3 other robbers all trying to grab the same loot. If you are somehow able to get your loot and get out quickly, you have the option to come back as a cop and apprehend the other robbers out to take loot. The game has several different modes, including an arcade mode and a team player mode. Changing these is not obvious, as game modes are hidden below in a jail cell you might not notice until you literally fall there.

No tutorial

Rather than teach you how the game works, Rubber Bandits simply drops you into a round and wishes you the best of luck. You can pretty much guarantee the first few games you play will be a wash as you struggle to learn the mechanics of the game on your own.

Although this can make the game difficult, it also adds an element of discovery to the game. You can pick up and throw things, move them around to help you, and picking up new weapons—of which there is a huge variety. Almost anything can be a weapon in the game, from the usual guns to bats, swords, and even toilet paper rolls.

Pouty Players reduce the fun

This is a multiplayer game, and requires multiple people to be fun. Unfortunately, when things aren’t going the way of many of the gamers you encounter, their response is to disconnect from the game rather than keep playing. This would be fine, but disconnections from the game don’t count as a ‘win’ for the last person there. If you are the last person in the game, even if you were hands down winning, it won’t count as a win. You will stand there awkwardly in an empty room until the game kicks you out, no win counted to your name.

With such a large portion of the player base made up of poor sports, it may be hard for you to progress in the game unless this bug is fixed. There are also a number of other bugs that could really stand to be fixed. The game suffers from slow reaction times, general lag, and yes connection issues that aren’t the player disconnecting themselves. Altogether it makes the game very glitchy and annoying to paly.

Despite these flaws, this game is a lot of fun when you can find other players to play with. The game is very similar in a lot of ways to Gang Beasts, right down to the cops and robbers theme and the rubbery looking characters.
