Nine Noir Lives

We truly live in a golden age of point-and-click- adventure games and Nine Noir Lives is a prime example of that. This is a game that is just a ton of fun and set in a world full of cats! This game has a whole lot of charm to it and it is telling a truly wonderful and hilarious story that is going to grab you from the start and never let go. It boasts some very witty writing, interesting characters, and some challenging, but far puzzle-based gameplay. This really does have everything that you would want in a point-and-click-adventure-style game.

The Purr-fect Detective!

Our feline hero in Nine Noir Lives is a kitty detective called, Cuddles Nutterbutter. Cuddles along with his assistant Tabby Marshmallow has been tasked by the chief of police to solve a murder that has happened in the city of Meow Meow Furrington! The story is pretty hilarious and it really is made for people that have an affection towards cats as there are so many cat related jokes, puns, and more that it is impossible not to fall in love with this city.

Two Families At War!

The problem with the case that Cuddles and Tabby find themselves trying to solve in Nine Noir Lives is that this is no normal murder! You see there are two major crime families in the city of Meow Meow Furrington and if this case is not handled just right it could result in a big gang war and that would be very bad for the city. I love the “gangster” kind of story that the game is telling here and it is something that I got a real kick out of and thought was a whole lot of fun.

Feline Trickery

If you have played any kind of point-and-click-adventure style of game before, you will feel right at home here with Nine Noir Lives. You get to move around each location, looking for clues like you would expect. However, the “cat twist” that is on everything makes trying to find clues and figure out what is going on so much more fun. You get to control both Cuddles and Tabby and they let you do different things. It is fun and while it does pose a bit of a challenge, it is never to the point where it is so obscure or random that it becomes a chore or hard to figure out.

The Video Games Are Art Debate

Without a doubt, Nine Noir Lives is an absolutely stunning game to look at. There is some truly amazing hand-drawn art in this game that brings this feline city to life. It has a rather film noir style about it all, just with a cat twist and that is something that I thought was a whole lot of fun! As well as looking the part, this game also has a great soundtrack too! It has a nice musical score that fits the game perfectly and even better than that is the fun voice acting that brings all of these interesting characters to life.

Pros:

• I love this cat filled world they have created
• I got a real kick out of the film noir murder style story that they told
• It looks absolutely amazing
• The voice acting is hilarious!

Cons:

• If you do not like cats, you may not find the game quite as charming
• While I enjoyed what I played, I will admit, that you do have to enjoy this style of game to truly appreciate this
