Nebuchadnezzar: The Adventures of Sargon

Nebuchadnezzar: The Adventures of Sargon is an expansion pack so make sure that you have the main game before getting this! With that being said, I loved the base game so I am pretty interested to see what this substantial expansion is offering us. I have done a real deep dive into this and I wanted to share my thoughts on it with you guys. If you love strategy games and games that have a real historic style going on, you will more than likely have a great time with this game… expansion, but you know what I mean.

The Ultimate Ruler

What we have here with Nebuchadnezzar: The Adventures of Sargon is a story expansion to the original Nebuchadnezzar game. What is neat about this is that the character we play as is, Sargon II who is one of the most famous and interesting leaders of ancient Mesopotamia. This is a game that you history fanatics are going to really love as the story takes you through some of the most important moments of his rule. From dealing with rebellions and conquering other empires, there is a lot going on here.

One Step Beyond!

While the story is a huge draw of Nebuchadnezzar: The Adventures of Sargon and it sounds like it is going to be fantastic. I do have to give the developer a ton of credit here as they have gone above and beyond to make this expansion even more cinematic. The game now has full voice acting and from what I have heard, sounds great and adds a ton to the story. They have tried to make you feel like you really are in this world and I think the enhanced presentation does wonders to make that happen. I feel like the more cinematic approach to this is going to help get people much more invested in the story that is being told.

Preparing For War!

As far as the gameplay of Nebuchadnezzar: The Adventures of Sargon goes, I have to say, they have not really changed anything from the first game. It is still a challenging strategy game where you have to plan your attacks, organize your units, find new gear, and so on. If you have played any kind of strategy game here, nothing that happens over the 12 plus campaign missions is going to surprise you. I know that sounds a bit negative, but I think they had a solid foundation here already so I am more than happy to just play a new story, with this fantastic gameplay system that they already established. You will need to also watch the books too as your finances also play an important role and if enemies suspect any kind of weakness, be it on the battlefield or behind the scenes they will try and take advantage of it.

While you 100 percent need to have played the base game before jumping into Nebuchadnezzar: The Adventures of Sargon. I feel that those who have already done that are going to be in for a real treat here with this. In my humble opinion, what we have here is some of the best DLC for the early part of 2023. I love the way that they are trying to be historically accurate with the story they are telling and the new voice acting and more cinematic flair that they have does wonders to make that happen. Plus, this is the same deep and exciting strategy based gameplay as you know from the main game.
