Mother and Daughter Magical Girl Shine Memoria

As far as I am aware, there is no official English translation yet for Mother and Daughter Magical Girl Shine Memoria, but that did not stop me from giving this the good old college try. This is a lewd RPG/adventure game that has some fantastic artwork and a pretty interesting premise as far as the story goes. As I write this, this game has only been out a few weeks, and already, it is creating quite a bit of buzz, so I wanted to do my part and share my thoughts on it.

Two Heads Are Better Than One

I feel like I may be missing something here, as it feels like there was a game I was supposed to play before Mother and Daughter Magical Girl Shine Memoria. Anyway, the gist of what is going down in this fantasy world is that we have a mother and daughter duo called Shine and Memoria, hence the title of the game. Their job is basically to serve the land as these magical ladies to help keep people safe by fighting off monsters and demons. Hey, it is a tough job, but someone has to do it.

Three Certainly Is Company!

Now, that is a very dated reference, but it is quite fitting as the story of Mother and Daughter Magical Girl Shine Memoria takes a twist when a third character, Melody, is added to the mix. Melody is also a magical girl, and she was an ally of Shine and Memoria, but she was captured by the Demon King and corrupted. Now, Melody is trying her best to corrupt Shine and Memoria, too! This is a pretty cool concept, and if you are into corruption stories, I am sure that you will get a kick out of this.

Taking It Slowly

I would certainly say that Mother and Daughter Magical Girl Shine Memoria is very much a corruption style game. The idea is that you play as Melody, and you are tasked with getting in the way of Shine and Memoria by sending out monsters and corrupting them. I liked how you could do this via monsters, but also by interfering in their everyday lives as well. The game is played from a top down perspective, and it certainly has that RPG Maker feel about it. At the moment, there were a few parts where I was not exactly sure what I had to do next, but I felt that was more to do with some rather odd translation issues, which made completing some quests a little on the tricky side.

How Couldn’t They Tell?

I am a massive fan of the lewd art style that this game has. Mother and Daughter Magical Girl Shine Memoria has a charming look when you are playing the game, but it is the character portraits and the sex scenes that really make this a fun game. Melody is awesome, I love how she just looks so “bad,” and I mean that in a positive way. There are plenty of sex scenes, but these are just still images. The visuals are very bright, and if you are into seeing chicks getting corrupted, you will get a massive kick out of seeing these two “heroines” fall to the dark side and give in to their urges.

Pros:

• I thought that Melody was a lot of fun to play as
• The corruption aspect of the story/gameplay was fun
• I loved the bright and very in your face visuals
• While there were some translation issues, it was still possible to play the game

Cons:

• I would like to see someone else take a crack at the translation
• Some of the quests were a bit on the frustrating side, due to not knowing what to do
