Look, if you like this series, nothing I say is going to sway you one way or the other about your thoughts on Madden NFL 24! I tend to be a dabbler in this series I picked up the first one that was released on the SNES on a whim (because it was cheap) and ever since then every now and again I will pick a new one up and as it has been a couple of years since my last dipping of a toe into the series, I have decided to get back in on this one and these are a few of the features that I am excited about. Now, if you are a hardcore fan of the series some of the stuff I am excited about may make you say “huh?” however, as I said, I have missed a few!

It Is All In The Name!

Before I get to what is new (well at the very least new to me) in Madden NFL 24 I want to address something that I think is very interesting and that is what in the hell are EA going to call this game next year!

They already blew their Madden 25 wad a few years back with what was the 25th anniversary of the game! A move so shortsighted and dumb, I still cannot believe that they have done it! Anyway, I saw the trailer for this and was blown away by the new “Fieldsense” technology which I think is something similar to what they do with FIFA as the game looks like a TV broadcast!

Being The Franchise!

No, I am not talking about ECW Legend Shane Douglas, but if you thought that you my friend are awesome and we can have a Pepsi together anytime! My favorite game mode in the series and I am sure it will be the same for Madden NFL 24 is franchise mode. I am a real “tinkerer” and I love to get my hands on every aspect of my team. Now, I am not a huge NFL fan (I am from the UK) so I do not have a major alliance with a team, but for some reason, I always play as the New York Giants and I like to build my team pretty much from the ground up and I get so addicted to this move. However, it is weird, I will spend hours and hours with the mode and then just crash and burn on it! Still, I have a hell of a lot of fun while it lasts!

Being In The Game!

Madden NFL 24 is also bringing back Superstar Mode where we get to pretend that we are n NFL rookie looking for superstardom. To be honest with you, this is not a mode I get a ton out of, but I do like the idea of playing as just one player and trying to have a career with them. I am sure if I was more into the sport, this would click with me more as I love this mode in the FIFA games. What I like about this is that I think this year the superstar mode is a bit more story driven and cinematic as well as it having its usual sprinkling of RPG like stat building.

Field Pass Equals A Big Nope From Me

I spend hundreds of hours each year with FIFA, well this year I guess it is EA Sports FC, but the one mode I never touch is Ultimate Team and that is the same for Madden NFL 24. This is a mode that just does not click with me at all and I hate how expensive it is and it is just pure greed to me! Hey, if you like it good for you and I am happy you have fun with it, I hate it and what it represents. This year's Madden has a weird almost battle pass type element added to it which makes me throw up in my mouth a little as I have no doubt that EA will be exploiting players with this.

Madden NFL 24 is a game that I am 100 percent going to be putting a lot of time into this year. I think that EA have pretty much nailed the gameplay at this point so for many people I can see why these games tend to just flow into each other. However, for me, someone that is on the every other Madden plan, I think that there is some cool stuff this year, especially the core gameplay which from what I have seen so far appears to be tightened up a bit.
