Jumping Jazz Cats is a platforming party game that is perfect if you love to play with your buddies and have a thing for cats! For years me and my friends have always managed to keep up our Thursday night online gaming sessions with only a few missed weeks here and there and we are always looking for fun new games to play. This one right here could very well be one of the best party games of 2025! Today we are looking at what this is and why this feline parkour crazy game could be your next favorite multiplayer game!
Everybody Wants To Be A Cat
The idea of Jumping Jazz Cats is that you start by creating your cat. You have many different choices available to you here such as the style of cat, color, and accessories that the cat will wear. Now, this is a game that is designed to be played with others and you can try and co-ordinate and have some kind of team style if you want or you can just do your own thing. There is actually a solid amount of choice here when it comes to designing your feline hero! The game takes place in a fancy mansion which is the perfect playground for a group of rowdy cats to get into all kinds of trouble.
Just Like The Classics
What I think has drawn me and my friends to Jumping Jazz Cats is that this game has a very classic kind of vibe about it. This is all about the multiplayer mayhem where you can play local co-op with up to four players or you can hop online where you can play with up to nine players, I thought that nine was kind of random, but it is probably a fun pun on the whole nine lives thing. The game is giving me classic party game vibes that I used to play with my buddies back in the day such as Mario Party 2 on the Nintendo 64 and Toy Commander and Fur Fighters on the Sega Dreamcast. I even get a bit of modern vibes such as Party Animals from this game.
Changing It Up To The Beat!
The gameplay of Jumping Jazz Cats actually has a lot of variety to it. Once you pick your cat, you pick a level and there are several mini-games that all revolve around running like a maniac and doing some platforming. Yes, this is chaotic stuff, but some platforming skill is required. The twist here is that things can change depending on the music, for example, you may have to try and catch a bunch of fish, but if a certain record is playing while the level starts, a modifier like running super fast will be added. On paper, it may not seem like six mini-games is a lot, but with the different modifiers that can happen, it actually does keep things quite fresh.
A Real Smack To The Senses
I love the whole style and vibe that Jumping Jazz Cats has going on as it is just so chaotic! The way the music notes fill the screen, the crazy way that the cats run, jump, swing, and more. This is one of those games where you really have to pay attention to your character as it can be easy to get lost if you take your eyes off them for a second. If you are someone who loves cats, you are going to really get a kick out of the game as it is something that was clearly made by people who love cats. There are also little nods and references to many of the popular cat memes as well which I thought was pretty awesome.
You can never go wrong with a new party game and I love the fact that Jumping Jazz Cats is built around platforming and being crazy rather than physics based stuff which a lot of party games are these days. I am really pumped for this one and that is why I have given it such a high score as me and my buddies are all very excited to play this together. It does have some single-player trials that you can do, but to be honest, I would say that this is made for people who want to play with others.
Pros:
- You can make your own cat
- I love the funky jazz vibe and presentation that the game has
- The mini-games have some fun modifiers to stop them from getting repetitive
- This is going to be a blast in multiplayer!
Cons:
- The single-player content may not keep you all that busy
- Like most party games, you will probably eventually feel like you have had your fill with this
