If you’ve ever played Minecraft on the legendary Hypixel servers then you’ve got a general idea of what Hytale is all about. For the uninitiated, Hypixel is a network for Minecraft servers that started out as a series of YouTube videos about Minecraft adventures. Hytale is an upcoming sandbox adventure game with the same blocky voxel graphic style as Mojang’s runaway hit. Taking all the fun aspects of the Hypixel servers and fusing them with a procedurally generated world and RPG elements, Hytale promises a whole world of creativity and adventure.

Let’s dig into everything we know so far about Hytale.

Adventure Creation

While on the surface it looks just like the game that inspired it, Hytale aims to be its own beast. In fact, it sounds like it aims to take the Minecraft concept to a whole new level.

Beyond the usual mining and crafting, Hytale will have its own baked-in modding and scripting tools that will allow you to make the game your own. Character customization also appears to be way beyond what we’ve gotten from Minecraft if you exclude skins. It’s an ambitious game to say the least.

To Adventure and Beyond

The game is a fusion of open-world action RPGs and Minecraft. On top of being able to dig, build and craft until your heart’s content, you’ll also be able to don powerful armor and wield magic and weapons to fight a wide variety of fantasy monsters of all shapes and sizes. There are even big bosses to challenge. Beyond the adventure portions, Hytale will also include mini-games that the Hypixel servers were known for as well as community servers for all fans to hang out in.

Never The Same Adventure

Just like Minecraft, Hytale will have a host of different biomes and landscapes that will all be procedurally generated. This means that no one playthrough will ever be the same.

From the trailers, we’ve seen several familiar landscapes as well as some unique ones that are clearly inspired by fantasy lands and harsh worlds. What makes experiences like Hytale truly unique is being able to start anew without ever getting bored and the game definitely seems to be hitting those notes.

Hytale is still a few months away from release. From what we’ve seen so far, it’s an incredibly ambitious game that aims to take creativity to a whole new level.

Hytale is one of those games that absolutely steals the show, and keeps you engaged for days until someone has to check on you. If you think you are ready for a title with more hours of gameplay than you could physically handle, then you are looking in the right place. Jump into the action in this procedurally generated world that leaves everything to chance and has you creating, watching, exploring, and fighting with friends from around the world in a game that just doesn’t say ‘no’ to anything. Gameplay

Ah, this is actually kind of difficult to capture as the gameplay is so incredibly vast. Off the bat, you have things like Minecraft style exploration but with a combat that is so much smoother and more responsive. You have multiple classes; you have different ways of approaching the dangers of the world; you can travel for miles and camp out in the woods before going into a procedurally generated biome that holds a procedurally generated dungeon that is filled with procedurally generated creature. Are you getting the gist of this? It’s all about the freedom of creation and an incredibly attention to detail that will be hard to beat by anyone.

This is a game that takes all the best bits from Cube World and jams it into a well-built world with so much gameplay to offer any discerning player. You can fight, craft, hunt, camp, build and more in this creation. There are even social hubs for players to hang out, watch share videos like a movie theatre and play lots and lots of minigames.

Yes, there’s multiplayer and a lot of it at that. You can jump into the madness alone, with a partner or a huge number of random people from the internet and enjoy the fun on a large scale.

Minigames

This is one of the fine points. This, right here, is one of the most interesting bits of the game. As though it were a new and improved Roblox, this game does not shy away from its minigames. The main game appears to appeal to the Minecraft demographic with its huge, randomly generated world that is filled with surprises and adventure, and then it also caters to everyone else who just wants to jump into a map and shoot each other with laser guns or have a battle royale with medieval weapons. There is so much to play and see that I don’t see anyone ever getting bored of this.

Visuals

This title looks absolutely stunning at every step. It’s colorful and friendly but never sacrifices its sincerity for even a second. I am constantly impressed by how diverse and well designed every aspect of this game is.

Music

Something that plays a larger part in these games than many may think is the music, and these games got it. There is a tremendous amount of brilliantly composed tunes for players to indulge in that perfectly accent every scene, every battle, and every step in the players’ journey. The ambiance of the game is accompanied by subtle tones that really keep you engaged and help you focus in the world.
