Dungeon & Maid

As I write this, Dungeon & Maid is actually a bit of a classic, as the game originally released about a decade ago, but I was looking for a lewd game that was actually 100 percent complete, and it came across my radar. If you liked lewd platform action games, this one is well worth checking out. It has a bit of an old school soul about it, which was something that I got a kick out of, and I had a whole lot of fun putting this game through its paces.

A Scroll To The Left

There may not be a whole lot to the story of Dungeon & Maid, but I think that at the very least, they do a solid job of giving the player a decent premise. The game has us playing the role of this cute chick, and we have been tasked to head into this deadly dungeon to try and find a collection of scrolls. The tricky part of this quest is that this dungeon is home to all kinds of monstrous creatures, as well as a selection of huge bosses that would love nothing more than to tear us apart and have their way with us, rather than us getting their sacred scrolls. To be honest, I do wish that there was a bit more to the story here, but what is here does work, so I give it credit for that.

My Mega Buster Will Bust You Up!

That Mega Man reference is kind of fitting, as our heroine that we play as in Dungeon & Maid has a projectile attack that is very similar to the classic Mega Man games. You can shoot enemies, but you can also hold the shoot button down to deliver a powerful attack. In addition to this, you have an overpowered bomb attack that is best saved for bosses. The gameplay has you progressing through the level, taking down enemies, and making your way to one of the four bosses. You can dash forward, which is very handy as our lady walks so damn slow! You can find bombs that you can use, and your regular blast attack depletes a gauge, which is easily replenished.

Straight To The Point

From what I have read, Dungeon & Maid was originally released about ten years ago, as I write this. The thing is, as far as a 2D action platformer goes, this is pretty basic stuff. There is no expansive upgrade tree, no series of abilities that you unlock as you progress; it is all very simple and straight to the point. It plays like a simple game from the Super Nintendo era, if I am being honest. The thing is, I do not mean this as a negative, as what is here works very well, and I actually appreciated how this was a much more straightforward kind of 2D action game, rather than something that has all these RPG-style elements tacked on for the sake of trying to make the gameplay deeper. With this game, what you see in the opening stage is pretty much what you get for the duration of the game. Of course, that does also mean that if the game does not click with you at the start, chances are it will not hold your attention.

A Sign Of The Times

The quality of 2D visuals in lewd games has just gotten insane over the last few years, so I will admit that Dungeon & Maid does have a bit of a dated look about it. Our heroine maid is a total babe, and she is a very nicely designed character, and the solo stuff with her is awesome. However, the sex here is all monsters banging her, but while I did not find this hot, there are some cool monster designs, especially the much larger ones like that big cyclops looking dude! The only thing that I am not really digging, as far as the visuals go, is the backgrounds, which seem to just recycle for pretty much the whole game. I think that a little bit of variety here would have gone a long way, especially as the gameplay does not change all that much from the start of the game.

Pros:

• The idea of her looking for scrolls was cool
• The gameplay is pretty fun, and the entire game is here
• I liked the more simplistic nature of everything

Cons:

• The backgrounds could have used a bit more variety
• The game is pretty basic in every regard
