Open world RPGs are a popular genre right now due to the freedom it gives players in exploration. DokeV is one of the latest such RPGs to come out, and it is doing so in a spectacular fashion. The developers of DokeV are taking realism to a whole new level, by scanning real life locations and items into the world with 180 cameras.

The result is a startlingly real environment, using real geography and items found in Korea. Although the game has yet to be released, or even been given a formal release date, the beauty of the world has caused excitement in players since its announcement. A creature collecting adventure

DokeV is a creature collecting game, similar to games like Pokemon or Yokai-Watch. The goal is to collect the creatures you find in the game, level them, and battle them to obtain rewards.

The storyline on how the creatures in the game, called Dokebi, came to be is vague so far. What we do know is that Dokebi like people and want their dreams to come true, although they can sometimes cause trouble.

Lots of transport options

When playing in a vast open world, how you get around is very important. The developers of DokeV have taken great delight in figuring this out, and have created a large number of different ways people can travel in the game. This ranges from riding on the back of a llama to getting into a tiny car to scoot around. What ever your choice is, you won’t be able to just grab and go. Each method of transportation needs to be unlocked to be used, and the developers promise they’ve tried to make unlocking them as fun as possible.

Mini-Games and Quests

If you get bored of collecting Dokebi, don’t worry. There will be other things you can do in the game. Combat will be part of DokeV, as well as some mini-games and quests you can play. At this time the details on this are very vague, but we can imagine it will be somewhat like other creature catching games. The developer has only mentioned that they want to keep it as fun as possible, with somewhat exaggerated expressions and the ability to move in as many ways as possible.

At this point, access has not been given to streamers or other early release players to give us more details on functionality, potential problems, or how fun the game actually is. Luckily the developers have offered a fairly generous amount of information about the game outside of testing, which somewhat balances it.
