A Tale of One City

I must admit that I came into A Tale of One City with the highest of expectations! This is a lewd sandbox game that uses real porn images for its graphics. That means we get more than a few famous porn stars as “characters” in the game. I am not sure if they were officially licensed or anything like that if I am being honest, but it is still a cool idea and certainly something that got me pretty interested in the game.

Wait, Who Is Who Again?

The story of A Tale of One City is all over the place. We play as an MC who has just moved to a new area to start a new job and make a real go of his life. This place is also home to the largest selection of hot chicks in any city in the world! The idea of the story is great, especially with the real-life porn stars thrown in. However, it is all over the place and who you think is the main female character one minute will change the next. It makes it very hard to keep track of what is going on.

I Could Have Just Watched This On The Hub!

The majority of A Tale of One City “graphics” are made up from images and videos that are taken from porn movies. I am sure you will recognize one or two of the ladies here and that is awesome. However, it seems like sometimes a random image or a random video will be used that has nothing to do with anything that is going on! Using these real images and videos is kind of fun and gives the game a 90s Sega CD vibe, but many of them feel like they are just thrown in for the sake of doing so.

Going Up That Grinding Hill!

While I thought it was pretty neat how A Tale of One City used real images and videos, even if they sometimes did not make any sense in the context of the story! I have to say that the gameplay is the real issue here, this is an absolute grind fest. You have many different stats that you need to work on, you always need to work to make money and the girls have different stats/desires you have to work on as well.

It can be so hard to keep on top of everything, plus it can also be quite hard to know what you have to actually do. I think with a bit of streamlining, there is a fun game in here somewhere. They also added this strange battle mode to the story where you have to RPG style battle girls and this is actually something that I think does add a bit more depth to the game.

Pros:

• It is neat how it uses real porn stars
• The game has actual porn images and videos as its presentation
• I kind of liked the battle mode that was added to the game
• There are some very good aspects to this game that could be great with a little more work

Cons:

• The game is one of the grindiest that I have played
• While the real life porn is great, it does not always match up to the story that is being told
