In Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom, you are placed in control of a small, wind-up yellow taxi. Your job is to race through a variety of creative tracks to get to the finish as fast as possible—but there’s a catch. Although you can collect stars and use ramps to help you, there’s no jump option.

This small change to an otherwise typical racer game adds a huge degree of challenge to the game. Players must use ramps and speed to make up for the inability to jump instead of simply hitting a button. This requires players to familiarize themselves with the track in order to achieve a new win.

Comical Graphics

The graphics in the game are meant to feel retro—and they do. It feels like you’re playing an edutainment game from the 90s. Despite the graphics being simple almost to the point of being bad, the environments are very creative, which help to make up for the lack of quality of what you see.

Since the graphics are likely intentionally bad to help support the retro feel this isn’t necessarily a bad thing for the game, but keep in mind not to have high expectations when it comes to graphics quality.

Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom plays like a delightful combination of Super Mario 64 and Crazy Taxi. There’s no end to what you’ll discover as you get better and better at handling two simple controls.
