Wind Runners is one of those games that seems like it should have been released forever ago. Even now it says it is coming out in early 2021… well, it sure as heck is no longer early 2021 as I write this. Still, I have found this to be a very intriguing game and it is a game that I do not think there are many others that you could compare it to. With a bit of an anime and retro style to it all and some rogue like style, this is one very interesting game that I just wish they would hurry up and finish!

Fighting Oppression

There is a pretty cool story behind what is going on in Wind Runners. The game is set in the future and in the Zarah Igna System, a force called the Realm has used fear and its military might to rule with an iron fist and destroy anything and anyone that stands in its way. They are kind of like The Empire in Star Wars.

Things have been this way for centuries, but a group of highly skilled pilots are taking to the air to try and fight back the oppression so that people can live free from fear. It is pretty cool stuff and I am very interested to see how it all plays out.

Dogfight To The Death

This is a rogue like dogfighting side scroller and I must admit that took me a while to get my head around. Wind Runners has you piloting one of many ships as you shoot down things that are in the air and these massive mechanical beasts that the Realm are using to wage war and keep people oppressed.

The gameplay is going to be very skill based and you will certainly have to get good at the game to progress. As you progress you can improve your chances of freeing the galaxy by leveling up and getting new weapons and better stuff to help your cause.

I Love The Look Of An Explosion In The Morning

The art style that they have gone for in Wind Runners is pretty interesting. It has a kind of retro charm to it all, but then it also looks cell-shaded at the same time. It is a very appealing effect and I love that there is a decent amount of variety to the areas you will be flying over.

What really captured my attention though were the over the top and finely-detailed explosions that will make taking down enemies even more satisfying.

If Wind Runners ever does actually come out I am pretty sure that it is going to be a very fun experience. So far, I am loving what they have shown from this game. From the idea of a rouge like side scrolling shooter to the whole premise behind the story and the fantastic visuals. This is going to be a game that I can tell right away I am going to love sticking some real time into it so I can get good at it.
