Holy crap has it really been ten years since Turbo Dismount was originally released? Do not worry, I am not talking about an old mobile game here. This very popular game has now been given an official steam release and after a few hours full of mayhem, I can now see what all the hype was about all those years ago with kids falling in love with this game. I wonder if the kids who loved this back on their phones and tablets will love it even more now that the game is on steam.
The YouTube Revolution
One of the reasons that Turbo Dismount gained such a “cult” like following was because this was very popular with some of the bigger gaming YouTube channels back in the day. Kids who ate up gameplay videos would have seen the likes of Jacksepticeye and Markiplier playing this. I will admit, apart from what my son would watch, which was a lot of Stampy and Dan TDM, I never paid much attention to many of these gaming YouTubers, but if you did and saw them playing this, you can now play a better and enhanced version on your PC!
Mr. Dismount Is In The House
There is a bit of a story in Turbo Dismount and that is our main character, Mr. Dismount (I love how in your face generic this dude's name is) lives in a town where the cars “love him” and as a result, he ends up in all kinds of over the top accidents. While I was aware that this game was a popular mobile game back in the day and very popular on YouTube like we just discussed. I was not aware that this was actually a sequel to a game called, Stair Dismount so I am going to have to check that original game out as I have had a lot of fun with this one here.
Damage Awards Points!
That is the basics of what Turbo Dismount is all about and even the official steam page states this. You need to create a track, level, stage, or whatever you want to call it, send Mr. Dismount hurtling down it, and then have him get in as much chaos as possible. The more damage that you do, the higher your score is going to be. It is kind of like setting up a bunch of dominos in that you hope they go a certain way. Here though you are smashing into walls, flying through the air and just causing tons of damage all over the place. Think of something like Burnout and what that offered, but way more over the top.
The Tools Of The Trade
Building levels or whatever you want to call them in Turbo Dismount is way easier than you would think. I pretty much just jumped right into it and was able to make some basic levels for Mr. Dismount to cause trouble in right away. However, the real fun here is coming up with these insane and over the top runs for him to go on. When it all works out you feel like a genius, but it is also so much fun when something unexpected happens and even more chaos is caused than you could have dreamed of. I also got a chuckle when I would plan something and Mr. Dismount would just plow into something at 100 mph and stop dead in his tracks!
As I said, I was familiar with Turbo Dismount as it was a popular game that was showcased on many of the top YouTube channels of the day, but I never paid much attention to it. I am so glad that I decided to give this a try, it is the perfect game to play if you want something that is fun and a real time waster. I actually played this in between finishing Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth and getting hooked on Valorant on Game Pass. So to me, I think this could be a great pallet cleanser style of game.
Pros:
- I liked how easy it was to get to grips with
- I have had fun sharing my chaos with my friends
- Building crazy stages is a blast
- This is a great game to play in between other games
Cons:
- I do think games like this eventually lose their appeal
- Will kids who loved this back in 2014 still think it is as much fun?

Game Reviews
Turbo Dismount is a physics-based simulation game that thrives on the simple yet endlessly entertaining premise of crashing vehicles in the most spectacular and absurd ways possible. So what's it all about? Players take control of various vehicles and send a crash test dummy on a journey through dangerous obstacles, aiming to create the most catastrophic and hilarious accidents imaginable. I'm sold.
The game is designed with a sense of humor and a love for chaos. The simplistic art style and cartoonish graphics contribute to the overall light-hearted tone of the game, ensuring that the violence and destruction never feel too serious. I enjoy these casual games; let's see if it comes off the way I'd hope!
Rev the Chaos Engine
Immediately, one of Turbo Dismount's greatest strengths lies in its simplicity. The game's controls are easy to pick up, making it accessible to players of all ages and skill levels. However, beneath this simplicity lies a deep well of creative potential. The game allows players to experiment with different combinations of vehicles, obstacles, and poses, leading to countless variations of crashes and destruction. The wide range of options enhances the game's replayability, as players can spend hours fine-tuning their setups to achieve the most spectacular crashes possible.
The game also features a robust physics engine that makes every crash unique and satisfying. The ragdoll physics are particularly impressive, with the crash test dummy reacting to every bump, jolt, and collision in a highly exaggerated and often hilarious manner. This unpredictability is vital to Turbo Dismount's charm, as players never quite know how their carefully planned setups will unfold once they hit the start button.
Another standout feature of Turbo Dismount is its level of customization. Players can choose from various vehicles and obstacles and personalize the crash test dummy with different faces and poses. This adds a layer of fun to the game, as players can inject their personality into the chaos.
Despite its many strengths, Turbo Dismount does have its shortcomings. The game's simplicity, while a strength in many ways, can also be a limitation. After spending hours experimenting with different combinations, some players may find the game repetitive. Additionally, the lack of a structured progression system means there isn't much of a sense of accomplishment beyond achieving more spectacular crashes. While this is in keeping with the game's sandbox nature, it may leave some players craving more goals or challenges to work towards.
Crash Course in Destruction
Turbo Dismount is a delightful and addictive game that provides hours of entertainment through its unique combination of humor, chaos, and physics-based gameplay. Its simplicity makes it accessible, while its depth ensures plenty of room for creative experimentation. However, the lack of progression and the potential for repetition may limit its appeal for some players over the long term.
For fans of similar games, Turbo Dismount can be compared to titles like Happy Wheels, which shares Turbo Dismount's love for ragdoll physics and absurd scenarios but takes a more platforming approach. However, for casual gamers, Turbo Dismount offers a pure and unfiltered experience of vehicular mayhem that is hard to match.
Round-Up - Pros & Cons
Pros:
- Endless creative possibilities with vehicle and obstacle combinations
- Hilarious and satisfying ragdoll physics
- Easy-to-learn controls with a light-hearted, fun aesthetic
Cons:
- It can become repetitive over time
- Lack of structured goals or progression
- Limited in scope
