Topple Tactics

I have a feeling that Topple Tactics may be one of the hidden gems of the year when it comes to multiplayer games. Me and my friends live in all different parts of the country these days, but we still have online gaming sessions at least once a week. So, we are always looking for that next awesome multiplayer game to take over our lives and I think that this one here has the potential to be a great deal of fun. Hence why I am running my mouth about it today!

Ever Played A Tower Defense Game Before?

I mean at this point, who hasn’t right? Well, Topple Tactics is a tower defense game and it contains pretty much what you would expect. You have to build towers to prevent a bunch of characters from making it through the map. It sounds so simple in theory, but there is a real layer of challenge to it. Making this a multiplayer game was such a clever idea and a way for them to put their own spin on the tower defense genre.

The Huge Player Running Things!

One player gets the chance to play as the “Huge Player” in Topple Tactics. The Huge Player is exactly what he sounds like, he is a big guy that towers over the terrain. He needs to place different towers at different points on the map to cause the other players as much trouble as possible in getting to the end. There are a large variety of towers that he can make use of and special abilities to try and keep those jerks from making it to the end of the map. Speaking of which, the maps in the game each offer a different kind of challenge to the big guy, making him have to think about what towers he will use and where he will put them.

The Little Player Sneaking Around

The other players in Topple Tactics will get to play as the Little Player. The Little Player needs to try and make it to the end of the map in order to win. It may sound like an impossible feat, but the Little Player can get upgrades that can help them get through the tricky and dangerous terrain and deal with the towers that The Huge Player has. There is a physics based system here which I think is fun as it may add a bit of randomness to things which can result in hilarity and frustration, making it perfect for a multiplayer game night!

The Sincerest Form Of Flattery

The whole style and vibe of Topple Tactics has a real air of familiarity about it. The characters have a kind of Fall Guys thing going on and the whole game is bright and colorful in the same kind of vein as Battle Beast, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, Party Animals, and other similar popular multiplayer games. They have clearly tried to make it as colorful as possible and letting us customize our characters is a great idea as it lets us put a bit of our own personality on the characters which I think is really cool.

Pros:

• This is a fun multiplayer take on the tower defense genre
• I liked the idea of playing as The Huge Player and using towers and abilities
• The Little Player gets to make use of an upgrade tree to even the playfield
• Games like this are perfect for multiplayer game nights

Cons:

• I think that you really will need to play with people you know to get the best out of this
• I am not sure there is anything at all here for the single player
