The Parasites

As I write this, The Parasites is still being worked on. This is an open world survival style of game with a lewd lick of paint spread all over it. I have been following this one for a while, and I love how open and honest the developer is. This is very much a passion project for just one developer, and they are open about how the issues that the game may have. From what I understand, they are getting this out there for us to play, and they are tinkering in the background, working on bugs, adding content, and listening to what players have to say.

Just The Two Of Us

I am not sure exactly how the story of The Parasites is going to progress, but so far, it is pretty cool stuff. A meteorite dropped onto the planet and caused absolute devastation. Many people died, and those who did not are in a constant fight for survival due to some kind of parasite infection that takes people over and makes them crazy. We play as a hot chick who has a parasite, but she has an understanding with this parasite, and it gives her powers that will help her survive. It is a great premise for a story, and it does sound similar to the whole Venom thing from Spider-man 2!

Taking It All In

For a game made by a solo developer, The Parasites has a lot going on. The survival mechanics see you needing to scavenge materials, build stuff, and so on. You also have an upgrade system and even a psyche system where your mental state can alter the way you are. The combat system in the game has a lot of weight to it, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out why I keep crouching when I am fighting an enemy. It started to get frustrating. The world is a solid enough side, and I did think that there was a lot spread around, which made me want to go out there and explore. In all, it may be a bit rough around the edges, but for a game that is just made by one person, it is beyond impressive how many core mechanics this game has already, and from what I understand, the developer has plans to build on this. However, before that, I hope that they tighten what is already here up.

Just One Guy?

I know I have been talking about how The Parasites is made by just one guy for quite some time, but it truly is beyond impressive just how well done this is. As well as having many different gameplay mechanics going on, this game also looks great too. Our main character is customizable, and there is a solid amount of options, although the silver-haired Lara Croft from Tomb Raider looking babe that is the default character is more than ok with me. Still, I did have fun playing around with her. The world has a solid amount of variety to it as well, from forest looking places, places that are dirty and even dangerous, underground areas where you can get all kinds of goodies, but also run the risk of getting into trouble with the infected peeps that now call this place home.

Releasing The Tension

I am sure that many people will check out some screenshots and maybe even some gameplay footage and be shocked to find out that The Parasites is actually a lewd game! As of writing, I have not come across any sex in the game, but thanks to this parasite, I was able to see our heroine get a little bit frisky with herself and with the aid of a little vibrating friend that she has. For me, the lewd content here is the icing on the cake, but the game is not resting on this, and to be real, they could take out the lewd content, and I am not sure the game would be any worse for it. Hey, I am certainly happy that it is here, but at the same time, I am not sure I want to see my hot babe getting ravaged by these monstrous looking creatures.

Pros:

• I liked the main character
• You can customize the main character in several ways
• The survival gameplay stuff here has way more depth than I was expecting
• This has a ton of potential, and I can see it getting even better

Cons:

• The game does have some bugs and various issues
• With this being a solo developer, I imagine bug fixes and progress will be slow

The Parasites is a survival simulator in which players explore a dystopian world where humanity struggles with parasitic creatures. Gameplay involves gathering resources and fighting the parasites, as well as solving puzzles to progress through the story and uncover the origin of the parasites. The Parasites is comparable to games like Resident Evil or The Last of Us, which also combine exploration, combat and story tension.
