The Obey

I have played many adult games like The Obey here that end up being left unfinished by their developer, but this is one that I really wish had made it over the finishing line. Hey, there is still more than enough to have fun here with so I do think it is worth your time checking out. However, there is no ignoring the fact that this is one game that I truly do wish had managed to get completed, as I think that they had something here with both the story and the gameplay.

How Will You Survive?

The setup for the game is something that I liked as it is a kind of dystopian world that The Obey takes place in and our MC is a bit of a “sissy” kind of character if you get what I am saying. There is this woman called Madame Madlen, and she has taken an interest in us, and now we must “work” for her to make her money and also be a bit of a sexual plaything that she can have fun with and just discard whenever she likes. Honestly, the whole setup of this evil Madame Madlen and our MC having to do whatever it takes to survive is very well done.

One Mean Lady

The story of the game is pretty solid, but you can tell that this is a fairly early version of what the developer wanted The Obey to be. I say that because, outside of Madame Madlen, none of the characters get all that much time to develop or leave any kind of lasting impression. The writing is not bad at all, it is just that the game got abandoned before the developer had time to flesh this thing out. The dystopian world that the game takes place in is very interesting, but like the characters, most of this is left to your imagination as it is never truly delved into. I would love to know what plans the developer had for where this story was going to go.

Walking The Straight And Narrow

Gameplay wise, what we have here is fine and if you are familiar with adult visual novels and porn sandbox games, you will have a basic idea of what, The Obey has in store for you. The game is quite linear as it does give us some choices to make, but I always felt like I was being pushed in the direction that the story wanted me to go. Also, there is a money making aspect like you get in most lewd sandbox games, but instead of being super grindy, this game actually gives you the option to skip it, but still get the benefits from it. This was a nice touch and something I wish more lewd games of this style would consider doing, as forcing the player to do the same thing over and over again can make them lose interest.

Ok, I Will Do What You Want!

I have to be honest and say that if I were in a messed-up dystopian future where survival was bleak, I would probably do what the MC in The Obey does and let Madame Madlem do whatever she wanted with me…. Only in my case, it would be because I thought that she was so hot! Seriously, her design is just fantastic, and any time you see her, it is very welcome. The game, in general, has a very stylish look to it, and most of the characters are easy on the eye. I was also surprised to see that there were animated sex scenes in the game and that they were animated so smoothly. With this game getting abandoned so early, I am surprised that these were here, but they were a very welcome surprise!

Pros:

• I liked the villain; she was hot and had a cool character
• The setup for the story was well done and got me invested
• I loved the presentation
• The animated sex scenes were a very nice surprise

Cons:

• The game is abandoned and, as a result, is lacking in content
• While you get to make choices, I am not sure how much they matter
