The Null Hypothesis

The Null Hypothesis is an adventure/dating sim game with a super hero twist. The game opens with beautiful, comic-book style graphics that reveal the storyline. The game smoothly integrates your personal settings for the game into the storyline, giving it to you in the form of a school ‘test’ rather than just another menu.

The creativity continues from there. It turns out, you’ve been thrown into the X-men universe, where you are one of the people with the mutant X gene. As the game progresses, you’re allowed to personalize more aspects of the game, including your appearance and abilities.

Beautiful Graphics

The graphics throughout the game are very well done. Sex scenes are just as well drawn as the comic book style intro, though some of the scenes would be better with more creative positions. Some of the characters look as if they belong to other popular films, but they are still an attractive addition to the game.

Very Similar to Rogue Like 2

The game is so similar to a similar X-Men dating sim, Rogue Like 2, that it has been accused of theft in the past. The Null Hypothesis does separate from Rogue Like 2 in a few ways, with better models, and no corruption play points. Otherwise, the games are very similar. It shares the same history, characters, location, and even things like the interface and font.

The game plays as if it was originally meant to be a mod for Rogue Like 2 but has since branched off into its own game. As more updates occur, the game is gradually becoming more of its own story. It’s likely that they simply adopted the premise because it’s a good one, and went on to work on their own game from there. Players will have to decide for themselves if this game is its own game or a copy, but it appears that as time goes on they get less and less similar.

Some Bugs

The game has a few issues with it depending on what OS you are using. For Mac users, there is a save issue, and the windows version as a screen tearing bug. The game can freeze at any point in the game, usually when performing very basic actions such as simply trying to swim.

The game plays like it is in pre-alpha and needs a lot more work before it could be considered a functioning game. Recent updates worked on fixing bugs and improving UI, but it’s still a long way from completion.

This game has good bones and is on its way to being a good game. It features a hot dating sim that makes you work to earn the love of various playable characters, and a sexy reward for your time. The game is currently incomplete but gradually getting better with every update.
