Terror of Hemasaurus

Oh my god, how ridiculous does Terror of Hemasaurus look?! That's the first reaction I had to this planned platformer of destruction. I mean, what's not to love about the idea of controlling a dinosaur-like monster and raging through a massive metropolis. Smashing everything in your path is one of the most satisfying things about playing video games.

While Terror of Hemasuarus is yet to have a release date, you can't help but feel excited about this arcade-style smash 'em up. There's nothing that seems mechanically revolutionary or particularly innovative. But giving players the chance to put on giant monsters shows and cause maximum carnage? That's got to be hugely entertaining, right?

Giant Monster Has Smashed the Building

So we have to get the backstory straight before we analyze the gameplay of Terror of Hemasaurus - it's just so fantastic. Planet Earth is heading towards a climate catastrophe. So the Church of Holy Lizard has decided to launch a crusade against humanity to stop the inevitable destruction of their ecosystem. Rise-up giant monsters - it's smashing time!

Now that you've been given your purpose, it's time to reek terror upon mankind. The gameplay looks to be pure pixelated, explosive arcade joy. You'll take the role of one of the 4-giant monsters and rummage around smashing buildings, stomping on unsuspecting citizens, and crushing vehicles into a pulp. But is there any purpose?

Does there need to be? The amount of satisfaction you can get from destroying things in seemingly endless ways should be entertaining enough. However, there does look as if there are some scoring and progression mechanics to keep gameplay competitive. Not to mention that multiplayer facilitates 4-other live players into your rampage.

Terror of Hemasaurus obviously is a game made for casual gamers. It's got that pick-up-and-play vibe that could make an excellent party game or something to relieve some stress for a few minutes. We've seen enough video content to convince us that the game will be a hell of a lot of fun. Now we just need a release date to play it!

Arcade platformers have come back into the fray since mobile game development became a thing. Terror of Hemasaurus has that feel without the stigmas of a phone game. It doesn't take itself too seriously, doesn't try to monetize obnoxiously, and already presents a few belting laughs.
