Sucker for Love: Date to Die For

I knew that I was all in on Sucker for Love: Date to Die For when the synopsis of the game said “putting the love in Lovecraftian horror”. This is a lewd, well they say that it is a lewd visual novel, but I would actually say that it is more of a lewd adventure game as it has a bit more gameplay than you would typically get from a lewd visual novel. It took me around four hours to see all the game had to offer, but this is one of those games that really did leave an impression on me by the time I was done with it.

Finding The Special Spellbook

Sucker for Love: Date to Die For has a Lovecraftian horror kind of vibe to it and if you are into that kind of thing, you will get a big kick out of the references and themes that this game has. In our little rural village, people have been acting weird and going missing, and in our efforts to find out and stop what is going on, we end up taken as well and find ourselves in these very creepy woods and we need to find this special purple spellbook in order to get back.

The Goat With The Most

The writing in Sucker for Love: Date to Die For is fantastic and grabs you right from the start. We end up finding out about this goat being called Rhok’zan and the people of our village are all under his love spell, but we are somehow feeling a bit different. What we basically have here is a love story with a goat dude and a few other interesting characters. What I loved about the story here is that while it does have Lovecraftian horror elements to it, the story here has an absolute ton of heart and the writing is so good that it is impossible not to develop a strong connection with many of the characters that you will meet on this journey.

Pointing And Clicking Your Way To Survival And Love

As I said in the intro of this Sucker for Love: Date to Die For review, this game is classed as a lewd visual novel, and while there are certainly many narrative choices that you need to make as you progress through the game. You also have to do some point-and-click adventure style work here as you need to do a bit of light puzzle solving and choosing where to go, what to do, what to look at, and so on. There are different paths that you can take and there is one true good ending that you are working towards here. It took me around four hours and I was so entertained, it actually left me wanting more!

Now This Is A Classy Throwback

They have gone for a 90s anime style with the visuals and it just looks awesome! Sucker for Love: Date to Die For has a very cool and sleek style with its visuals and the characters have a ton of personality. I love the way the colors are just a tad muted, almost like they were all done before HD or 4K became a thing. The game also has some very nice looking character designs and if you are into the whole Lovecraftian horror thing, I am certain that you will love what they have done here. It is just a very stylish looking game, a cool looking game, and a game that also has some naughty, risqué, and horror elements sprinkled around it too.

• There are some great character designs, especially the “trendy girl”
• I found myself captivated by the story here
• There is a great mixture of horror, love, and mystery in the story

Cons:

• While I loved my time with the game, once you know the outcome, it may lose its appeal
• A few of the horror elements may freak you out!
