Plague Inc: Evolved

I had heard of the original, but never played it, but when I saw Plague Inc: Evolved, a newer, improved version, I decided now was the time for me to check this one out. I am surprised I never came across this during the days of the pandemic, as I am sure this probably saw its player base spike during that time! This is pretty much a plague simulator game where you are responsible for unleashing a deadly virus on the world. Playing as the bad guy is always something that I find pretty interesting.

Patient Zero!

There is just something kind of cool about the whole premise of Plague Inc: Evolved. Well, not cool in that you are responsible for killing potentially billions of people, but the idea is certainly interesting. Basically, we play the role of a psycho pathogen, and we have developed into a plague and have a patient zero, and now we want to unleash the plague on the world to kill humanity! The twist here is that we have to act fast, as humanity is going to try and fight back, so we must try and strike fast and be prepared to deal with any vaccines or cures that they may come up with. As a premise, I think that this is very solid!

I Was Working In The Lab Late One Night!

Wow, are we really referencing the Monster Mash? Well, I guess so, but it is kind of fitting, with it being about a deadly plague. I would say that a simulator game is the best category to put Plague Inc: Evolved into. We have to create our plague with the various nasty stuff that we have, and then we unleash it on the world. The way that we have to tweak it and change it as an immunity is built up is cool, and it keeps you on your toes. Playing as this pathogen or whatever the technical name for it is, is something that I think is very cool. You earn DNA points, which you then use to mutate and grow to become something that mankind has a hard time fighting against. The fact that the CDC was interested in this and said that it was well done is pretty cool.

Plagues With Friends

One of the most surprising things about Plague Inc: Evolved for me was that you could play this with a buddy! That is right, you can team up with a friend, both of you being your own deadly plague as you try to work together to wipe out the planet! There is also a very dedicated user creation community that has come up with tons of different scenarios for you to play through, ranging from infecting different biomes to all kinds of insane plagues that you can take control of. It is honestly crazy just how much content is in this game; there is far more here than just the base regular main game mode that you will probably jump into at first.

Medical Sterileness!

The presentation of Plague Inc: Evolved is rather interesting. The best aspect is when you are actually making your plague, and you have all the little nasty things that can make it up. There is also a screen where you can see how it will affect a human. The fact that these screens are red really does make what you are doing seem so much more dangerous. A great portion of the game is spent watching a map and seeing the devastation you have caused. To be fair, many simulator games do not have a whole lot going on as far as the visuals go, but I do like what they have done here.

Pros:

• I loved the premise of the game
• The fact we are the villain/bad guy is cool
• The game has a lot of content
• It is fun messing around with DNA to mutate your plague

Cons:

• This type of game does not click with everyone
• The game is not the most exciting to look at
