If total immersion is the utmost objective for eroge, then virtual reality is the playground where gamers find the most immersive experiences they can get. On that premise, Nympho Trainer VR delivers something rather unique for sex simulators: a game like the usual “trainer” experiences, but in complete VR.

If you jump in expecting the same depth and complexity you’d find in games by Akabur (think Princess Trainer,) you’ll be sorely disappointed. What you’ll find instead is a rather comprehensive “scene” simulator with only a few modifiers that focus more on immersion than customization.

Even if some of the tech on display here is impressive, it’s hard to really recommend this game – unless you’re one very specific type of gamer. In which case, you’ll be surprised by what Nympho Trainer VR has in store.

Anime Dreams

Unlike games like Honey Select 2: Libido that go for that pristine ultrarealistic look, Nympho Trainer VR fully embraces the anime art style. That has both pros and cons – but it can be a godsend for players with less powerful rigs. At first, I wasn’t a fan of the basic character models, but the expresiveness in their poses and the attention to detail were a pleasant surprise.

You play as one lucky guy who just happens to have the world’s most submissive girlfriend who would do anything for her “master.” I know, it’s cheesy and not exactly the most compelling plot ever written, but you don’t play a game called “Nympho Trainer VR” for the plot, do you?

Beauty in Simplicity

One thing that always gets me with VR is how interactive every game feels. Even seemingly “limited” experiences like Koitatsu Party completely change once you play them with a VR headset. Nympho Trainer VR, which was designed from the ground up with VR in mind, feels a bit barebones by comparison.

For starters, there’s no hand tracking of any kind, which is weird for a game where “touching things” is very high up in the player’s list of priorities. Instead, every scene plays as a predetermined cutscene where you get to watch and rip off skirts – and that’s it. It’s honestly disappointing and not at all what I was expecting from a VR game.

Performance Friendly

There’s a silver lining to Nympho Trainer VR’s simplicity: it runs on almost any hardware. With its basic textures and limited maps, the game would run just as well with integrated graphics as it would with a top-of-the-line Nvidia GPU. It’s certainly not the game I’d pick to test a fancy new VR headset, though – there are countless better VR hentai games out there.

However, the game excels for players who enjoy this type of BDSM dynamic. Without mods, games like Koikatsu or even Honey Select feel a bit limited in that regard, and seeing Nympho Trainer VR just have all the tools and toys a BDSM lover would want out of the box is a welcome addition.
