Medieval Dynasty

As one of the most popular video game genres around today, survival games are very enjoyable for the right kind of person. One title that came out in late September, developed by Render Cube, is Medieval Dynasty. This title has become quite popular with those who are looking for a standard experience in survival. You are going to be taking on the role of trying to survive in a Medieval work where you basically need to fight just to survive from one day to the next.

Enjoyable RPG survival action

Set in a rather large open world, Medieval Dynasty has become a good choice for anyone looking to try and take on a new survival challenge. The aim of the title is quite simple – you basically need to try and prosper, or die trying. You can manage crops, you can hunt animals, and you can slowly but surely build up your own little area.

The graphics are quite impressive for what it is, and the game itself has some very interesting ideas. It’s also quite realistic with the crafting and the survival mechanics, albeit compared to some of the easier games in the fantasy genre. There is quite a lot to like about this game – if you have played less serious farming games like Animal Crossing, you will understand what the aim and intention is here.

It’s all about trying to survive whilst building up a little town. It will be good for those who are looking to simply enjoy building a little community from more or less nothing as time goes on. There is enough challenge to keep you always having to be smart with how you plan, but it is not hard enough to leave you feeling frustrated or cheated in terms of your time.

Detailed survival experience in a challenging world (7.5/10)

We found that Medieval Dynasty was a very enjoyable survival game. There is not much missing from it – the visuals are excellent, the overall survival mechanics etc. are fun and there is quite a lot to like about the overall world building.

The main thing is that it can become a touch repetitive if you play it for too long, though all survival games suffer from this. It’s a good that has some very methodical ways of getting things done, so it can feel like you are always relying on the same systems if you want to prosper. Overall, though, if you simply want to enjoy a happy and relaxing experience building something from scratch then this makes a very fun game.

7.5

It’s not perfect, but Medieval Dynasty does more than enough to justify its place in the packed world of survival RPG games out there today.

Pros

  • Excellent attention to detail with regards to the visuals and survival elements
  • Enough to do to keep players busy, though still challenging enough to play
  • Rewarding for those who are willing to commit to mastering the games systems

Cons

  • Can become a touch methodical if you learn to master its various ‘go-to’ playing styles

Game Reviews

Ever wondered what it would be like to have been born in the middle ages? Well, thanks to Medieval Dynasty, you might get a realistic glimpse into what life was like during those trying times in human history. Establish an enduring legacy amid a land torn by the fires of war, and eventually, forge your own path in history.

As far as survival sims go, Medieval Dynasty’s historic setting tackles a niche that’s barely explored in the genre. Although you’ll only have to tackle the most basic needs to succeed in this game, the basic gameplay can be addictive enough for some players to keep building their dynasties.

Create and Customize

If the first thing you thought when you saw Medieval Dynasty’s gameplay was that it looked more or less like it was inspired by Kingdom Come: Deliverance, then you’re partially right about what to expect from this title. While the setting and overall atmosphere of the two games are vastly similar, the core gameplay couldn’t be any more different.

Instead of going on an epic adventure that’s rife with peril and quests, Medieval Dynasty focuses more on the everyday aspects of life in the middle ages. From procuring the food to building upgrades to your farm, every day poses a new challenge for someone aiming to build themselves an efficient settlement.

The story — as scarce as it is — centers around a young man that has fled from war to establish a new homestead. In a way, the game reminds us of Banished in its themes, but Medieval Dynasty includes some light questing elements that make the game feel slightly like an RPG.

Following the main questline is usually the better way to make some quick progress, but more adventurous players can choose the vast world that Medieval Dynasty has to offer.

Enjoy the Panorama

Questing elements aside, Medieval Dynasty can be a quite relaxing experience for players of any skill level. As you progress through the game, you’ll notice that some buildings start being self-sufficient, making the game almost feel like an idle clicker title.

When you’re not too worried about building new projects for your homestead or being careful not to be eaten by some rabid creature from the forests, you’ll get to enjoy some of the nicest environments we’ve seen in a survival game in ages.

Medieval Dynasty’s graphics engine delivers some seriously impressive vistas: the middle ages have never looked as good as they do in this game. Nature and foliage look stunning thanks to the game’s quality texture work, and the volumetric lighting adds another layer of realism to the whole experience.

That said, some character models — well, most of them — don’t look up to par with the rest of the environment. Stilted animations and blocky characters can be seen all through the game, but they never diminish the overall quality of the title in a considerable way.

All in all, Medieval Dynasty is a solid entry into an overcrowded market of survival simulation games that does things differently enough to stand out from its competition.

8.5

Medieval Dynasty offers a compelling take on the survival genre, delivering a realistic experience that feels wonderfully different from the genre’s tried-and-true formula.

Pros

  • Gorgeous visuals elevate the overall quality of the game
  • Entertaining quests never get in the way of the game’s simulation elements
  • Unique “successor” mechanic keeps things interesting for long gaming sessions

Cons

  • Stilted character animations
  • Minimal story can be disappointing for some players
