Lunar Mirror

The thing with Lunar Mirror is that this is a game that is just crying out for a full English translation. I have played through pretty much all that I can with what we have so far, but as far as I have seen, the game is still technically in early access, but that has been the case for a long time now. You may be able to fumble your way through the game, but as someone who loves horror and lewd games, I can tell that there is something of a great and gripping story here that I would probably really love if I could understand it all.

Strange Things Have Been Happening!

As a horror fan, I am really digging the story that Lunar Mirror is trying to tell. Our main character is Nishimura Qiren, and he is a student at this college, and his girlfriend has gone missing! The thing is, this is no normal disappearing person case, and other girls have been going missing too. There are these strange societies in this school that have ties to the older ones. Cthulhu is a major influence on the story, and that is actually something that got me very excited. If you are into Lovecraftian style horror, you will certainly appreciate what the developer is trying to do.

One Foot In

Now, the trouble I had when trying to play through Lunar Mirror is the translation. I would say that like half of the game is translated, it is super weird, you can get many parts in a row that have a translation, and then there can be a few minutes without any English at all. It is kind of frustrating to be honest with you, as even though the stuff that is translated is not translated all that well. I was still finding myself getting interested in the story, and then BAM, I would not be able to follow the next part as it was all in Chinese. I get that translating a full game takes time, but this has been a few years at this point.

A Mystery To End All Mysteries

If you have played a lewd point-and-click adventure game before, you will feel right at home with Lunar Mirror. The game is played from a 2D point of view, and you are tasked with exploring the school, finding items, solving puzzles, and interacting with characters. I think that the gameplay could be pretty solid, and there is just the right amount of challenge here from what I was able to play. However, there are parts of the game that are not translated, and this made me not able to progress past a certain point as I had no idea what was being said or what the game what wanted me to do. Hey, if you understand Chinese, you will be able to play and have fun with the game. If you do not, like me, chances are you will hit a wall at some point.

My Inner Persona

Visually, Lunar Mirror is a very striking looking game. As a matter of fact, if I look at just a gameplay screen, without any of the lewd content. I could easily be convinced that I was looking at some kind of game in the Persona series. The game has a very anime kind of look to it, which is great, and the XXX content is wonderful as the characters are so cute! While the game does have that anime style, the characters have a more realistic look to them, which I am a huge fan of. Now, the horror content here is great; it is dark, moody, and very Lovecraftian, and there were even a few very creepy moments that did grab my attention.

Pros:

• I loved the Lovecraftian style horror story
• The game looks great with some nice anime art
• The XXX content is very well done
• This could be a solid lewd adventure game

Cons:

• The translation is rough and not even fully finished
• The horror elements may not be to everyone’s taste
