Lords of Ravage

In most RPG games, you play a hero who has come to destroy the dark lord who has taken over the kingdom. In Lords of Ravage, this concept has been turned on its head. Instead of fighting the dark lord, you are the dark lord, and must defend yourself against the heroes.

You get to pick between one of three lords to control, all with their own unique play styles. Farther more, your followers have different abilities which can be combined together, this makes for some very interesting play tactics. On top of this, the game allows you to send your minions out ahead of the Lord to begin attacking, but still encourages you to bring the Lord to the field with special benefits. One of the Dark Lords for example, can heal nearby units, aiding them in the battle field.

This is just one benefit, and each Lord has their own unique benefit, making it worthwhile to try them all.

Unique Artwork

The mood of this dark lord tale is enhanced through the iconic artwork. The artwork is striking for its moody and dark color scheme, as well as the somewhat pixelated look to the game. Although it is pixel art, this isn’t the cheesy look of the first pixel pieces, each setting is gorgeously made.

Variety of Enemies

Remember all those cliché heroes you’ve played in games past? Now you can try and best them. In this case your ‘enemies’ could include the classic hero’s party, a lone sorcerer, twin barbarians, or even a whole army. Each enemy has a unique playstyle and requires different tactics for you to fight against. Fighting mechanics in this game have been carefully fine-tuned, with lots of player feedback, so that there is a good balance to the game. Although the art style is different, there is a definite Legends of Keepers vibe to this game.

Lots of Replay Value

The developers made an effort to ensure the game has significant replay value. With the ability to mix and match various followers to create new abilities, you can change the course of a battle. You can also get new and unique upgrades as you play through the game. With so many possible combinations, you can play through the game many times and it will still feel unique each time.

Lords of Ravage was available for beta briefly but hasn’t been available since a lot of the final polish was put on. Because of this, it’s not easy to gauge how much the game has improved since the last time it was playable.
