Kara no Shoujo

Despite originally releasing 15 years before I came across it, Kara no Shojo is one of the best adult visual novels that I have had the pleasure to play this year! Honestly, I am blown away by this game, and I cannot believe that I had no idea it existed until now! Actually, the friend who suggested this to me was mind-blown that I had never heard of it. Well, I have certainly heard of it now, and it is one of the best experiences I have had with a game of this style this year!

A Detective With A Past

Above all else, it was the story of Kara no Shojo that impressed me the most. We play the role of a man called Reiji. Reiji is a private eye, but he used to be a cop, and one of his old cop buddies has asked him to take a look at these murders that are happening across the city. In addition to this, he is also working on another case at an all-girls school for a missing person. The thing is, Reiji notices that he has a personal connection to what is going on as his fiancée was brutally killed several years ago, and these new murders are very similar to what happened to her!

It Is All About The Tone

What really clicked with me as I progressed through Kara no Shojo was the general tone of the story. This is a lewd visual novel at the end of the day, but this is not just about XXX content. This is a story that has some real weight to it, and there are horror/crime elements here as you would expect with a detective story that deals with murder. However, it is the sinister tone of the story that just keeps growing as you progress that really got under my skin and made me excited to see what would happen next, as well as a little bit nervous when it came to making my choices, speaking of which.

Nothing Cold About This Case!

I came into Kara no Shojo, expecting a visual novel, and by that I mean, I would be reading the story and then making choices. Granted, this is a huge part of the game, and the choices you make in this game feel like they do actually matter. Some of them are massive and will have you really worried about what you are going to do. However, in addition to this, the game makes sure that you feel like you are a detective, as there are certain parts of the game where you will be tasked with analyzing a crime scene and putting things together, think of it as kind of like a puzzle. I thought that this was a great change of pace, and it ultimately helped me get even more into the shoes of the main character. I will say that the game is much more difficult than I was expecting, and if I do play it again, I think I will use a guide to give me a little helping hand. However, I wanted my first experience to be fully my own, even if that did mean making mistakes.

Putting Me In A Movie

For a game that is a little on the older side (although it does have an HD remaster), Kara no Shojo still looks fantastic! I was very impressed with the movie-like quality of the game, and the 50s Tokyo setting was something that I thought was very well done and quite unique for an adult visual novel. The game has some pretty hot XXX content, and when it happens, it feels like it is actually part of the story and not just here for the sake of it. In addition to this, we have some more creepy and sinister elements at play too, which I thought was a very nice touch.

Kara no Shoujo is a hentai visual novel with detective elements about mysterious murders, the cyclical nature of time, and the unfairness of life. In 1956, a wave of brutal murders hit Tokyo. Tokisaka Reiji has worked as a detective all his life, but even his knowledge of the series of murders did not save the life of his beloved bride.

Retiring from his position as an overseer of the law, Reiji never expected to find himself at the heart of a covert operation again. Six years after the tragedy, the maniac shows up again and revenge will be exacted, even if Reiji has to play the role of a Catholic school teacher all this time.
