Simulators have long been one of the most popular games on the market. Through this genre, you can take on pretty much any role and explore what it would be like to live a different life. With inZOI, this genre is virtually turned on its head with a whole new take on the genre. inZOI puts you in the shoes of a creator, in charge of shaping the lives of human-like creatures called Zoi’s. The Zoi have personalities and free will. They will take the world created with them and react based on their own unique personalities.

Beautiful Graphics

The game is a little bit like the Sims, where you shape the lives of characters and watch them react, but a lot more refined. The game seems to know what the Sims lacks and has set out to address those problems.

The graphics are powered by Unreal Engine 5 and are very realistic. When in character creation mode, it looks very close to a real person standing there getting dressed. This is an incredible step up from most simulators, which tend to have so-so graphics at best.

During character creation, there’s even details like makeup which allows you to adjust things such as contour and blush. This is an incredibly refined level of detail for a simulator. The game could use a little bit more ethnic representation in its hair and makeup choices, but this game is still in early release with plenty of time to add more options.

Gameplay

Gameplay isn’t quite as amazing as the graphics yet. This isn’t terribly surprising because the game is still in early development. This is the developer, inZOI Studio’s first simulator, and they want to get it right.

They are taking user input into consideration, and have plans to release plenty of new areas, content, and abilities. Right now, however, the Zoi’s don’t do much. After creating the character and the house, the Zoi doesn’t really do anything voluntarily. They have to be goaded into leaving the house, talking with other Zoi’s, and leave as soon as possible.

One of the biggest joys of the Sims is watching them react to each other based on their personalities. They may catch the house on fire because they’re bad at cooking, start a slap fight with the neighbor, or other crazy things based on who they are. inZOI could use a little bit of that.

Despite this, inZOI has one huge perk in favor of it in comparison to The Sims. inZOI has a fixed price point that is below the Sims starter price—and all the expansions of it will be free. The price will only go up after the completion of the game. Considering how much the Sims cost after all the expansions are added, this is a great deal.
