This game offers a unique gameplay style that is reliant on the touch screen mechanics, but still offers a visual spectacle that looks like it would be at home on a console or computer screen. Gameplay

Infinity Blade’s gameplay follows a simple concept of being locked mostly either in cutscenes or in battles where you must make use of quick time events to defeat your foes. Wait until there is a break in their defense and slash them down. Many of the enemies have different attack chains and you need to learn it as you progress. There is something akin to Dark Souls about this title, but its gameplay is simpler and does not allow for open world exploration. Instead, this game knows that its challenging fights are where the real meat of the meal is.

There are slight RPG elements contained within this title. There is an experience point system which allows you to level up the character and their equipment. There is also a part of the system that allows you to master certain weapons, armor, shields, helms and magic rings, and then sell them on afterward. It provides a unique longevity to the game and inspires you to keep playing with different takes.

Visuals

Created on the Unreal Engine 3, this game offers a brilliant visual flare with stunning graphics with console level depth. It’s an amazing visual achievement. A lot of what you see in this game is stuff reserved for high-budget AAA games from huge developers, but this relatively small team managed to create something with some real punch.

I found the world itself to be incredibly interesting. It looked exactly as it should, a strange fantasy world filled with dangers and strange weapons, armor, and architecture. There is a lot here that you see that makes you wonder about the greater world. That’s a kind of curiosity that some game developers struggle to push.

Story

The story of this game takes something of a backseat to the gameplay. You pick up a lot of the stuff through visuals and context clues, as there is no speech during a cutscene that just explains its all to you. With a vibe like Babylon’s Fall mixed with NieR: Automata, this game has the players travelling up a tower and defeating all who lie within. If you can make it to the top, you may find that some things may not be as they seem and that a choice needs to be made.
