Some names shine brighter than others in the world of first-person shooters. If you're an OG PC player, you might have heard of Michael King, a spec-ops agent who's been making rounds even before Captain Price decided to wear his iconic mustache. I.G.I. Origins revives the iconic franchise for a new era – and it does so with all the bells and whistles.
This game is a prequel to the classic Project I.G.I from 2000, so yes, there are over two decades of pedigree for this game. In this one, You're tasked with thwarting a global threat with the potential to ignite another world war. The game offers a rich tapestry of espionage and action, where players can choose between stealth or direct confrontation, equipped with a diverse arsenal to match any tactical scenario.
Multiple tactical approaches, a varied arsenal, and honestly impressive visuals are everything this game needs to resurrect a legendary franchise – and honestly, it might give Call of Duty: Modern Warfare a run for its money.
Sneaky Missions and Strategic Choices
The game excels in its mission design, providing a sandbox feel within a linear narrative. Think of Hitman and how it approaches its level design. Here, however, most missions are divided similarly to Modern Warfare III's "Open Combat Missions."
Do you go in guns blazing or do you sneak past guards like a shadow? The choice impacts not only the gameplay but also the story's progression, offering a replay value that's rare in today's linear shooters. I mean, last time I checked, being detected didn't change the overall narrative in any of Activision's recent Call of Duty entries.
Visual Warfare
Graphically, I.G.I. Origins might not push the boundaries like the latest Call of Duty titles, but it still delivers an up-to-date presentation that should be more than enough for visual enthusiasts. Also, I have to say that the performance was great for the most part, keeping some solid framerates even when the situation went beyond FUBAR.
As far as audio goes, I.G.I. Origins does its job. I've got to say that I wasn't blown away by the overall sound of every gun in the same way I was in games like Battlefield 1, but it's great as it is. From the subtle rustle of leaves to the echo of gunfire, the audio cues enhance the immersive experience, and it should be enough to keep stealth enthusiasts engaged.
Spy Arsenal
Weapons in I.G.I. Origins are not just tools for destruction but extensions of your tactical decisions. Each gun feels unique, with realistic handling that echoes games like Sniper Elite. It really caught me by surprise how realistic every weapon feels, especially coming from more arcade-oriented FPS games that put realism in the back seat.
Customization wasn't as profound as I hoped, though. Even games like Call of Duty Black Ops 6 deliver a better weapon customization experience. For gun nuts, I.G.I. Origins might leave them wanting for more.
I.G.I. Origins is an amazing return to form for the franchise, blending old-school charm with contemporary gameplay.
Pros
- Unprecedented tactical depth
- Morally intricate narrative
- Great audiovisual design
Cons
- Uneneven visual design
- Weapon customization could be more expansive

Game Reviews
I.G.I. Origins is a first-person shooter where you will become only a small pawn in the solution of the world conflict. War is coming. The next destruction of man by man will be much larger and M-6 sends his agent into the enemy camp to save the situation and weaken the influence of the main instigator. Infiltrate the base stealthily and conduct your business as a spy or bring chaos, shooting all the enemies only after landing. Will you be able to prevent the strongest conflict in human history?
Pros of the game:
- Two paths of decision: stealth and direct confrontation
- Set of cold and firearms
