Gooba Ball

Welcome to one of the most adorable puzzler games out there. Gooba Ball is a matching game where you pair like colored balls and merge them into larger balls. Those larger balls can be merged again all the way up until you get the ultimate ball form, “Goober.”

Developers Mon Amiril and VChiBan have gone to great lengths to make sure every single ball in the game is adorable. They range from cute kitties to cute anime style girls, and every match reveals a new and cuter character. On top of the graphics, which are well done, the game features original music that is just as whimsical and uplifting as the game.

Colorblind Friendly

An interesting aspect of Gooba Ball is that despite it being a game largely based on the colors of the balls, its still easy for those who are color blind to play. Color blind people can match up the faces on the balls instead of the colors, without accidentally matching the wrong balls.

Work to Get The Highest Score

Gooba Ball is an arcade style game with the goal of trying to outdo yourself to reach the highest score. This makes replay value on the game very high, since you can always reach a higher score. The game also has a number of achievements to try for, including “Goobered” (matching two Goober balls) and “Lots of Balls” (having a ton of balls on the screen.)

To keep things competitive, there’s also a global leaderboard, so you can see exactly where you stack up against other Gooba players.

Physics-Based

Unlike games such as Tetrus, which follow the same ‘falling item’ idea but fall short of how a ball would actually drop, the balls fall relatively realistically. It doesn’t take long for players to figure out how to make a ball land the way they want, including stacking them up several high. There’s minimal bounce to these balls (think a sand-filled ball instead of a bouncy rubber ball) so players are better able to plan their moves.

Relatively Bug Free

Many free, completely unmonetized games like Gooba have a catch to them. They’re often made by new developers and are packed to the gills with bugs. The price for playing a free game is that you essentially become a beta tester and are forced to sift through dozens of bugs to see if you like the game. Gooba is refreshingly different in that you can play as much as you like, for free, and you may never experience a single bug. This truly elevates the game in many ways.
