Fight Crab 2 is a delightfully absurd third-person action game where players control immortal warrior crabs engaged in over-the-top combat. I immediately fell in love with the silly premise and tongue-in-cheek humor. The goals are simple – flip your opponent onto their back to win – but the variety of playable crabs, weapons, skills, and game modes kept me engaged for hours.

Still, silly or not, Fight Crab 2 presents a rather complex fighting game where players engage in some heated combat sessions that demand a surprising amount of concentration from the player. For all its silliness, Fight Crab 2 is one tough crustacean to beat.

Crab Combat Perfected

The core combat revolves around using your crab's pincers to grab, strike, and flip enemies. It recalls games like Dark Souls with its weighty feel and focus on spacing, timing, and managing stamina.

The "Modern" control scheme introduced in the sequel makes performing these crab battle techniques intuitive. New auto-skills also help simplify combat for newcomers without sacrificing depth for veterans. The systems mesh together incredibly well, resulting in frantic battles where no hit feels unfair. Seeing two absurdly-armed crabs go at it never gets old.

Diverse Game Modes

I was impressed by the breadth of single-player and multiplayer content. The story-driven Career mode starts as a humble crab battling farm equipment before eventually taking on menacing mega-crabs.

I loved the steady progression as my crab got new skills and gear. The open-ended Sandbox is perfect for experimenting with the diverse roster. Hopping online, the competitive Ranked matches really test your crab prowess. For sheer chaos, up to 5 players can battle in custom lobbies with wacky settings. There's always something new to experience.

Crustacean Customization

A major part of the fun is customizing your crustacean warrior. As you level up in Career mode, you earn points to improve core stats like health, stamina, and more. You can also equip distinct weapon types that drastically alter your attacks and movement.

The skills system adds further complexity with modifiers and bonuses that complement specific playstyles. I ultimately felt unique superiority with my customized moveset – exactly what you want in a fighting game.

While we wait for the absolute masterpiece that will no doubt be Another Crab's Treasure, Fight Crab 2 fills that need for crustacean mayhem. While the physics might be wonky at times, the surprising depth to the game's combat – coupled with the near-limitless customization options – deliver a game that's as fun to play as it's to look at.

The first Fight Crab was already a hidden gem, but the tweaks and additions push it to another level. The delightful absurdity of the concept is bolstered by deceptively deep and engaging gameplay.
