I had such high hopes for Drug Business, but in this very early stage, it is more of a demo than a full game. Still, after being able to spend a few hours with it, I thought I would share my thoughts on the pros and cons of this game and what I hope to see from it over the next year as the developer updates the game. The idea of running a drug empire is something I have always thought was cool so this game does fill that desire and it does have some good ideas.

Turning To The Drug Life!

The story of the game has you inherit this bar in a real dump of a town. Your customers suck, the social scene in this town sucks and the town just has no money at all.

You are struggling to keep things going, but lucky for you this bar has a large basement so you decide to turn it into a pot farm and make some real money by entering the Drug Business. The game is not as story driven as I would have liked; I swear there are only like the same three people in this town that want to buy your weed! I hope that they add more story to the NPCs as that would make things far more interesting.

Hey Man, I Need A Dime Bag

The way you sell the weed in Drug Business is kind of strange and needs some work. You go to your laptop and there will be an order of what some guy wants. The problem is, there is no notification system! You have to just keep going back to your laptop to check! I had the same guy order a big order of weed and I went and delivered it, only for 30 seconds later that exact same dude to put in another order so I had to go back to the exact same spot. The idea is good, I just think it needs refining to actually make it more fun.

Taking Care Of The Herb

As well as delivering your brand of weed to people, you also need to grow it. This is one area that I think Drug Business is on the right track. You need to plant it, soil it, water it and once it grows, you then need to cut it. I like how you are actually involved with the making of the weed and this is one area of the game where I do not think they will need to do a ton of stuff to make it better.

I really do like what Drug Business is trying to do. I think that there are some amazing ideas here, but in this state, the game is not yet ready. It is very basic and it is greatly lacking in some key features such as a tutorial and some kind of notification system for when you have a new order. The game is not even in early access! I think that if they said it was in early access (very early access) the state of the game would be more tolerable. I do hope that they are still working on the game as I really would like to see this improve.
