DROS

DROS is an awesome and very charming puzzle, platform action game that has the serious potential to be one of the surprise hits of the year. As I am very excited about this game, I wanted to share my thoughts on it with you fine people today. I have always got a kick out of games that have two protagonists linked like this so I think that and its arty steampunk style is what really made me stand up and take notice of this game.

Alchemy Is Corrupting The World

The developer of DROS is very proud of the fact that the game is going to be story driven. Now, as this is a story driven kind of game we do not really want to get too deeply into spoilers. However, what I can tell you is that we play as two characters, Little Dros and Captain and they are linked together and this steampunk kind of world is in chaos due to an evil alchemist who we are on the hunt to find in this creepy tower.

Two Become One!

I have always loved twin characters like Banjo Kazooie, Jak, and Daxter, heck it was the main reason Yooka-Laylee excited me so much! DROS is a similar concept where we have the Captain who handles most of the action and the heavy lifting of puzzles and stuff. Then we have Little Dros who can disconnect and slither around like they are slime to do other puzzles and challenges. Mixing it up between the two characters is a key part of the gameplay and the fun!

Throwing Down A 40!

DROS contains around 40 stages for us to sink our teeth into and the whole style and vibe of the game gives me major mixed vibes. Running around each stage gives me a bit of Super Mario 3D World feeling, but there is also combat and puzzles and in that regard, the game has a bit of a Deaths Door or even Tunic aspect about it. I like how this is the kind of game that makes you think outside of the box as you are playing it and some of the puzzles, levels, and enemies are going to be a very tricky challenge, however not to the point that the game becomes frustrating.

Art In My Game

The presentation of DROS is just stunning! They say that each world/level is like its own diorama and that is honestly the best way to describe the visuals of the game. I love the whole steampunk style world that they have created here and exploring and finding more lore and quirky characters is going to be a major highlight of the game for most people. They have truly created something wonderful here, it is the kind of game that has a real textured look about it where it feels like you can almost reach your hand into the screen and actually touch it!

Pros:

• I love the whole style and vibe of this game
• The way the game looks is awesome
• I love the way it mixes puzzle solving with platforming and action
• This game is just a ton of fun to actually play

Cons:

• This is the kind of game that I would love to see get a physical release
• Some people may find some of the puzzles a bit too cryptic
