Dark Star

If you want some action gameplay with your XXX action, Dark Star is worth taking a look at. This is a lewd 2D action game that stars a super hot sci-fi babe and while it is certainly not perfect, I had fun with the game and did see it through until the end… actually, that is not true, I made it to the boss, rage quit and I have not yet gone back to finish it. However, up to that point, even with the few flaws that the game had, I was able to have fun here. Granted, the big boobed sci-fi babe was a huge reason for this, but still, there is something here that makes me think this is worth your time.

Die Aliens Die!

There is not much in the way of story here in Dark Star, but I am a fan of what developer Grimhelm has done here with the premise. You do not need to know all the details, but the basics are that we are a hot babe and we need to fight our way through this facility that has been overtaken by gross looking alien bugs, we fight our way through, kill the leader and then perhaps we can get out of this thing alive. I do think a bit more story would have been nice, but I kind of dug the old 8 and 16-bit games vibes of not having a ton of story.

One Shot At A Time

If you come into Dark Star and try to play the game like a run-and-gun game, say Contra III, for example, you will not have a good time. Yes, this is a 2D action game, but you have to move at a slower pace, as it is so easy for enemies to overwhelm you. Thankfully, you can most of the time see them before they get to you, so you have a fighting chance. It forces you to walk a little slower and be more cautious, which does help ramp up the tension. You have a gun, which can get various power upgrades as you progress through the game. You fight your way through several levels and then take on the boss at the end, who is as cheap as they come! The reason that the boss is so tough is that our hit box is massive, so it leaves very little room to avoid his attacks.

Getting Out Of A Sticky Situation

An interesting aspect of the gameplay here is the lewd content. As you progress through a stage, if one of the gross looking aliens manages to get their tentacles on you, a XXX scene will be triggered and you have to button mash to get out of this. I liked this as it made the sex scenes more interactive. Another neat thing that Grimhelm has done here is give us a pretty stacked cheat menu that will allow you to plow your way through the game. One thing I will say is that our MC does have a bit of a floaty feel to her, and she does take a little while to get used to it. In all honesty, I do feel that the controls could have been a bit more responsive.

Alien Scum!

As far as the presentation of the game goes, I like part of it, and I do not like the other part. Our MC is gorgeous, she has big bouncy boobs and sexy long legs! She is a nice and large sprite, but this, as I said, means her hit box is huge. The sci-fi setting of the game is cool and kind of reminds me of the lab from the start of Super Metroid. The XXX content though is not for me. This is not to say that it is bad; it is actually very well done and smoothly animated, but the whole tentacle thing is not something I am a massive fan of. However, if you like it, I am sure you will appreciate how well it is done here.

Pros:

• I thought that the main character was cool
• I liked how she just strutted around naked for the most part
• Once you get used to the controls, this can be pretty fun
• If you like tentacle porn games, you will appreciate the XXX content

Cons:

• Her hit box feels unfairly huge
• The controls take a while to get used to and can feel a tad on the janky side
