CATMORPHOSIS

There is weird and then there is Catmorphosis! I have played tons of lewd visual novels so when I say something is weird, you know that it must be really weird. You can play a demo of this and I would wager that most people who play the demo will be so taken in by the weirdness and dare I say creepiness of this game that they will want to keep on playing it. I will say that it gets to the lewd stuff right away, but that just lures you into a false sense of security as within five to ten minutes to say that this game gets weird is the understatement of the year.

Dumped Before Work

In Catmorphosis we play as a young man called Johann who has a smoking hot girlfriend called Wendy. After a hot night of passion, Wendy starts to question you if you are cheating on her and before you can have a real heart to heart, you have to go into the office, but when you get back, Wendy is gone! She gives you her reasons, but all you need to know is that Wendy has had enough and she has dumped you. As you would expect, this really bums you out and you are a bit depressed.

Down A Cat Hole

Despite getting dumped, we still manage to bang our creepy looking boss, however, the weirdness of Catmorphosis is about to shine. We start surfing the internet and come across a weird site that is selling cats. We eventually see a cat that reminds us of Wendy and we decide to order the cat as it will provide some companionship. Little did we know that this was no normal cat, it shows up and we discover that it has freaking human hands! Let me tell you, that is weird, but it gets way weirder and I am pretty sure you know where these human cat hands are going to end up right?

Clicking And Licking

The gameplay of Catmorphosis is very easy to get to grips with. You have a handful of choices that you need to make and it is all simple enough. However, there are a couple of things I would like to see fixed. To start with, there are sections where you cannot speed up the text for some reason and it goes way too slow and stays on the screen way too long The biggest problem was “buying the cat”. You are on a website and it took me a good five minutes to click on the right cat. Each cat I clicked on had to do the same sold out schtick and it started to really get on my nerves if I am being honest. Why let me even click on the other cats?

A Helping Hand Or Paw

The art in Catmorphosis is some of the strangest I have ever seen. There is a lot of good here, the game starts with a high quality sex scene of Wendy and Johann and we get to see Johann banging his boss just a few minutes later. The regular stuff here is great and I like the rather strange art style that they have gone for. Now, the weird stuff is all about the cat, forget being a furry, this stuff is just flat out disturbing.

A cat with human hands is one of the creepiest things that I have ever seen. Yet, despite finding this so gross I could not turn away and my curiosity got the better of me and I had to see these hands in “action” if you know what I am saying. Let me tell you, it was far from sexy, but my god this is something that is now burned into my brain.

Pros:

• The weird vibe of the game was interesting
• Wendy is pretty damn hot
• The game has two lewd scenes very early on
• It is one of the most unique and weird lewd games I have ever played

Cons:

• The hands!!!! Holy crap the hands are the stuff of nightmares
• I do not like how you cannot skip or speed up certain parts of the game, especially the cat website!

You have no idea how much I want CATMORPHOSIS to be completed! This is a fantastic adult visual novel that has a really creepy and weird vibe to it. This is not for those who do not like horror, I can tell you that right off the bat. The whole game has an odd style about it, and I think that will either click with you or not. I pretty much did all that I could do in the current build of the game, but as of writing, this is very close to being completed, and I hope when it is fully released, it is not in chapters, as I need to know what the heck is happening here right now!

Dude Dodged A Bullet…. Kinda

The setup for CATMORPHOSIS is that we are a dude called Johann, and Johann actually has a pretty good job with a smoking hot cosplay girlfriend. However, his girlfriend is also a total witch with a B, as she ends up dumping him for a totally ridiculous reason. I have to say, I hated the girlfriend, but I mean that in a complimentary way, as she is so well written that you are supposed to hate her. Well, Johann is feeling pretty low, and he ends up hooking up with his boss as a rebound fling, but late-night internet shopping leads him to a strange site.

Cats For Sale, Get Your Cats For Sale!

Being down in the dumps while surfing the internet is never a good idea, and Johann is proof of that! He comes across a site that is selling very strange cats! The site has a very creepy vibe about it, almost like there is some kind of demonic thing going on! Well all the cats are sold out, but luck (or unlucky) for Johann, there is one cat that is available so he takes the plunge and orders it, only this is not a normal cat, this cat has human hands and is about as far away from being a “normal cat” as you can get. The story is very intriguing, and I am very invested, and I need to know how this all goes.

I Like The Quirky And Weird

The art style of CATMORPHOSIS clicked with me as soon as I saw it! This game looks like what an MTV animated show made by Tim Burton in 1999 or 2000 would have looked like. It is weird, creepy and just freaking odd. There is a lot of body horror here, too, so that is something you have to be willing to deal with. The thing is, this game also has some very hot XXX content too so you get a real mixture of styles. One minute you may have an epic sex scene, and then the next you may have a mutilated body right in front of you! I get that this kind of weird and in your face art style is not going to be for everyone, but it truly did click with me.

I Like The Direction I Am Being Taken

The version of CATMORPHOSIS that I played is not yet complete, but the game is very much a typical adult visual novel. The story moves at a very deliberate pace, which I liked, and the game does throw choices your way. Now, I am not 100 percent certain how much these choices matter, as from what I experienced, the plot went the way that it did regardless, but your choices seem to change dialogue. I am interested to see if, in the final version of the game if the choices will have more impact. To be honest with you, I do not mind if they don’t, as I am really enjoying the story, and I would be more than ok with this being more of a kinetic lewd visual novel, as the developer has a pretty interesting story going on here.

Pros:

• I loved the weird and quirky art style
• The story grabbed me right from the start
• The sex in the game is very well done
• I really enjoyed the horror elements of the story

Cons:

• The game is perhaps a tad too weird for some people
• I wish this were fully completed right now!
