ATV Offroad Fury 3

Off road racing games are a dime a dozen, and the sheer number of options that come out in the PlayStation 2 era can be quite mind-boggling. One of the most popular series, though, was the ATV OF series. So, when ATV Offroad Fury 3 was released in 2004 by Climax Racing, there was plenty of interest to see how a third iteration of a popular series would hold up.

For those looking for something a little different, they might find that ATV Offroad Fury 3 can offer a driving experience with a bit more depth than some of the competition released at the same time.

ATV Racing in its most open

One thing to note about ATV Offroad Fury 3 is that it offered the chance for players to enjoy some free roaming gameplay. While it might not compare to the likes of DIRT for actual track quality, at the time it was a very well-liked racing experience. Of the various ways you could play, its numerous styles from a tournament mode to a free-roaming off road experience was what made ATV Offroad Fury 3 such a fun experience for most.

It was a versatile racer in that you could chill out, take on challenges, and try numerous stunts. It even had a good tournament and championship mode where you could build a career for yourself as an off-road legend. Plenty of customisation was available, too, helping you to make your vehicle look a little different. It was a solid, reliable starting place for anyone who was interested in taking their riding experience a little further than its predecessor, ATV Offroad Fury 2, was able to.

A modest improvement (7/10)

One thing to note about ATV Offroad Fury 3 is that it was praised for its physics which were, at the time, hugely impressive. While today it does feel a touch wooden, even compared to first titles in other off-road games, it still holds up well today if you are looking for a more interesting experience. Thanks to the fact it was the third game in the series, it had plenty of innovations and adjustments that most first games in a series simply could not have.

While there is much to love about ATV Offroad Fury 3,though, it was one that was typically seen as a little limited visually. The visuals, even for the time, had a hard job of keeping up with its more advanced features like free roaming and advanced physics.
